I for one would really like Miles to make this team, even if it's just for 10 games...

The ten he's suspended by the NBA? ;)

Nah, the next 10 where we make Kevin Pritchard cry.

Is anyone really surprised that the roster is now at 16?
(assuming Cassell isn't just running off his mouth)

For that matter would anyone be surprised if the roster is at 17 going into training camp?  I wouldn't be surprised to see a rookie center signed, just for the competition it will provide in training camp (Esteban Batista anyone?).  Danny has done this every season he has been here, and I don't expect him to do anything different this year....
Celtics fan for life.

Well, I expect another non-roster invitee or two.  No one with a contract though.

Not trying to be incendiary, or maybe I am, but how do all of you "In Danny We Trust" guys feel about this positive move? I mean, you have to admit, Cassell has more talent than any other player that Danny has brought aboard this off season. You have to be loving this, right? Or are you going to start being negative?

They're probably just as happy about it as the "we need to load up on vets because none of our younger players will contribute anything this year" crowd. It's a bold move by Ainge to unite both fringe groups.

If Ainge truly wanted to appease both groups Antoine and GG would be suiting up for the Celts this season!

Have a heart Danny

not with  contracts they didn't. most of those invites played for a deal, or as i like to call it, pulled a shirley. they didn't sign them in advance.

I absolutely do not admit that Cassell has more "present" talent and ability than House does. 5 years ago yes. Today, not a chance.

Kind of funny how if someone disagrees with this guys value to the team they are just being negative. Can we turn the same thing around  and say that those on the other side are just being negative about House?!

Our biggest obstacle to winning the title last year other than being a mentally soft team that struggled painfully on the road... was the horrid play of Sam Cassell.  Every time he was on the court, I looked at him like he was a handicap being placed on the squad to make it more challenging.

Point well taken. Although the comment was meant more for people who felt that Danny had a great off season and that he brought in some great talent and athleticism and not a knock on House.

Personally, I think it would be a horrible move unless it is a non-guaranteed contract and he had to play his way on to the team. And even then, I think it's fairly obvious that time and his game has passed Sam by.

I would say that Sam had some pretty bad to simply horrendous games last year but he was also very good in some and held his own and didn't hurt the team in others.

But yes, there were games that Sam was so bad that it seemed it would have been better to have played Pruitt or no one rather than Sam.

What was he, 0 for 23 at some point? I know if that isn't exact then it's pretty darn close.

This is good under the condition that Sam stays on the sidelines, and practices coaching for the next year.

If Rajon goes down, this is insurance.

If Sam takes Eddie's minutes and plays often this is not good.

If this goes down, I will be dissapointed that we gave Eddie House a semi-lucrative deal worth 2 years.  If the plan was to bring back Sam, then we should have let Eddie walk and thrown all that $$ at Posey.

Eddie is a much much better fit as backup pg.  It would be a shame to see him lose his minutes again like last year in the playoffs.

Keeping both of these guys is bad for our chemistry.

that $$$ has nothign to do with posey, we threw him the full amount we were allowed under league rules. The issue was length of contract, which this doesn't affect.

NO pony'd up an extra year than we were willing to, not more $ per.
