Rules to the game.

- You are a GM of a real NBA team.  It is your job to run it like a real NBA team.

- The draft takes place Monday through Friday, 1:30-4:00.  The draft will not run on Sat and Sun.  This means this will take 3 weeks to run.

- Draft times are now set.  If you miss your time, the posters behind you can (and should) draft.  You can make your pick as soon as you sign back in.

- The player with the 1st pick in the next round can start the next round at 7 PM.

- Any player that misses their 1st round pick, they can lose their team as soon as a replacement is found.

- After the 1st round, if a player misses two straight picks, wdleehi will make the two picks and put the team up for sale to a new GM.

- If you know you will not be online for your pick, you can do one of the following
    a) Pick another poster to be your stand in.  Just inform wdleehi
    b) Send a list of players you would want picked there to wdleehi or one of the other moderators that are playing

- All trades are approved by wdleehi.  Wdleehi likes his rubber stamper.  So unless the trade is clearly lopsided, it will be approved.  Any trade that catches wdleehi's attention can still be approved if both poster can explain why they are making the trade (must be a good reason, but will not except tanking for next years rookie draft).

- Because of wdleehi's schedule, he can approve trades before 6 only.  If the trade is not approved by then, he will get to it by 12 the next day.

- Once a trade has been sent to wdleehi, all pieces of that trade is locked until approved or rejected.  If it includes a draft pick that is due, you might just have to draft for the other person.

- If a trade is rejected, a reason will be given.

- TP can be used for 'cash considerations' for the fun of it, but they are assessed no actual trade value.

- '2008 CelticsBlog draft board.' is for picks and approved trades only.  It will be unlocked Monday morning to start the draft.  Players put only their pick in there.  Any other post will just be deleted.  Wdleehi will also put all trade announcements in there.

- You can have more then 15 picks/players during the draft.  A date will be chosen where all teams need to trim their roster to 15 players (or make sure they have at least 13)  This doesn't include players that can be sent overseas.

- the list of players is for information purposes only, and that people shouldn't rely upon it.  Also, players not under contract to NBA teams can be drafted.

- Discussion of the draft will continue in the thread we have already started.  That includes trade requests.

- Discussion of the draft will also take place in the Chat.  It will allow for quicker trade talks with it's 'Instant message' function.  This will be the best way to inform wdleehi of trades.  (make sure you can log onto the 'Chat')

- Please feel free to ask question here.  I will answer PMs as well, but I find players tend to have the same questions.

TP can be used for 'cash considerations' for the fun of it, but they are assessed no actual trade value.

It is Memphis majority owner Michael Heisley's mandate that any trade made by the Grizzlies brings back Tommy Points in return.

GM, the Walker Wiggle, was however quick to deny that the team was in fire-sale mode.

  • The good ole days.
Can you explain in more detail 'draft takes place Monday - Friday, 1:30-4".  First, is that Eastern Time?  Also, from what I gather, the draft takes place in the Draft Board thread?  How much time does each GM have to make their selection after the previous pick is posted?

Also want to make sure this is a draft for this year's purposes only.  (i.e. KG is still very valuable, as compared to less valuable if it was a keeper-type draft where age was a factor).

Thanks!

WOAH WOAH. ABSOLUTELY NOT!

If you are gonna take my awesome mascot you need to provide me with a new one (preferably one that doesn't suck). Also I demand compensation for my mascot.

I can deal with that. I think I will also make their throwbacks that say "The City" our normal jerseys.

Look here for actual draft schedule.

http://www.celticsblog.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=64&topic=21682.0

We do one round a day.  You pick is due by the time next to your name.  If everyone took all the time they needed, it would be 5 minutes between every pick.

So next week, we will do rounds 1 through 5.
The following week, rounds 6 through 10
and finally, 11 through 15.

Age can be a factor based on your team.  If it is a win this year team, then the age is a small factor.  If the team is a contender the next couple of year, age is a larger factor.  If the team is a young, good in the future team, then age is a major factor.

For those looking for mascots, Benny the Bull is officially on the market.  We'll take draft picks, TPs, vouchers for trips to Chinese buffets or Brazilian BBQs...whatever.

He's even willing to go green!

In the meantime, in the interest of vanity, we'll be going with the GM's alter ego to represent this bullish franchise.

Basically, treat this like you would as a real GM.  Do you want to only "win now"?  Do you want a team heavy on future potential, that might wind up in the lottery for a few years?  You put the team together devising the strategy that you choose, but the expectation is that this is a team you'd be keeping together over time (i.e., the NBA isn't dissolving next season.)

The Tehran Lakers frontoffice is reflecting and considering with thoroughness and care on all trade proposals received till now. Answers will be given in the next few hours. However, we want to assure our fans that we value the 1st pick in the draft as much as themselves and we are equally excited with the prospect of drafting the best player in the league. Only for courtesy reasons we are listening to everyone who wants to talk to us.

Also, we'd like to know what can be done to improve the capacity of our inbox. Post padding?
