just curious what people think about the news. I for one am very happy that both are coming back, and two years each is perfect

I am fine with it.   The Celtics brought back last years 8th and 11th man.

I am a little more happy with House then Allen.

TA has been inconsistent to say the least coming off the bench.  He scares me if he has to take Posey's minutes.

I am waiting to see what Ainge does next.

Yes but I'm not that pleased with the contract length. Happy overall though. Happy with both of them.

i'd be less happy if they didn't come off in 2010. and before someone says "who cares, we'll have no shot at lebron/ one of the other super FA's" i agree, but the side effect of teams pining over those huge names is alot of very good to excellent players are going to be avalable to teams not in the lebron chase. like us, i hope  ;)

would you have wanted the contract lengths to be longer or shorter? I think 2 years was just enough to get them to come back and to get them off the books in time for 2010. It also makes them valuable trade contracts if we chose to use them as such.

Yes, especially given the short contracts.

It will be interesting to see what TA can do backing up the 2 and 3, getting about 20-25 mins a game.
Celtics fan for life.

Yes to both.  Very happy.

I'd have preferred them to be shorter, one year deals. I'm concerned about whether or not Danny will be able to spend his MLE next offseason.

Although Tony's contract could work out as a bonus if he succeeds well next season. Eddie, didn't see the need to give Eddie a second season at that pay rise.

I'm not thrilled.  People have tried to label them as versatile today, but they're about as one dimensional as they come: both are shooting guards.

If we had Bird rights on House, I would've been OK with him coming back, but I don't like how Ainge burned half the MLE on him.  It probably won't turn out to be a huge deal, because there aren't a ton of guys worth the full MLE still out there.  Still, it'd be nice to have a little more flexibility.

I don't love the Allen move either.  The last thing this team needed was another shooting guard.  If Ainge picks up Darius Miles, Allen's signing becomes even more pointless.

I agree.  There is no one left (unrestricted) worth the full MLE.  Splitting it between a PG and a C seemed like the best course.

This seems kind of like a lesser version of the Scal contract.  While it's not abominable given the small money, it does seem like another case of Ainge bidding against himself.  Now I don't know what the real interest was in House and Allen from other teams, but it doesn't seem to me like House needed to get that second year.  I feel that even more so with Tony Allen.  I have trouble believing anyone would give him anything more than the minimum for one year; he was the twelfth man last year on this team and saw less meaningful minutes in the playoffs than anyone on the active roster.

I am very happy with these signings.

I think the team still needs some veteran help from the bench to replace Posey and Brown for the playoffs. I guess George would be a good option if he comes for the minimum, and the rest of the MLE could be spent on a vet center.

Why is it a case of Ainge bidding against himself? I heard they were both looking for 3 year deals.
