I have been, as most know an ardent anti-TA guy. I would have much rathered have Posey. Now that this ship had passed I am thinking this isn't a bad signing for the money. We do need a defensive guy, and he can fill that role. If we can convince him to be smarter on the offensive side of things it may turn out okay.

As far as the House piece of this I am thrilled. House is such a big part of this team and should be the first guy off the bench at the two or 1 spot. Great job Danny.

couldnt agree more. we sign the rooks and were done. not a huge tony fan but if healthy we now have a great mix of role players. some athletes that can go to the basket and some guys that can spread the floor.

I completely agree. I actually really like Tony Allen. Everyone forgets before the knee surgery he was playing really well. With Posey gone, he's gonna get expanded minutes. He plays good defense and he's more athletic than Posey. We saw glimpses of what could be during the blow out win to wrap up the finals. He's gonna be more confident this next year and like Ainge said in the interview linked here those 26 playoff games were like another season worth of experience for our young guys.

I think we sign the Giddens and Walker and pick up another vet for the other half of the MLE and we're set. When the season progresses maybe make some pick ups like Brown and Cassell.

Overall I am really pleased with this off season.

Eddie's got to appreciate having a little continuity and returning to a winner.  The guys bounced around a ton.

And yes, TA for the $$$ is a fair enough signing.  He's been here a long time now, and if he's ever going to blossom, it would be great to see him do it in the green.  I've used the term "maddening" in describing his inconsistencies, but I've also felt like he could be a huge part of a winning team if he could ever smooth out his game.

So I guess I like both signings at face value.

i think they're both fair signings and i'm extremely happy they we're bringing them back; we needed to bring somebody back if we were going to continually push this ubuntu thing. it would be bad pr if we said ubuntu, go team... be brothers... oh wait, your contracts are too expensive and we're letting you all go. helps the team chemistry see.

Become Legendary.

im lovin it. im a huge eddie $$$$ fan. say what you want about his weaknesses but the guys a game-changer. he changes momentum. he hits big shots. he hustles. he gets after it. he gets the crowd going. he sets an example for the young players. stay ready so when youre called on you dont have to get ready. thats certainly an example i want all our young players off the bench to see.

I was thinking along the same lines, especially when the Posey deal fell through.

First off glad we resigned House, but it seems he got more than he was orignally asking for earlier, but i guess Ainge panicked a little after losng Posey. Kinda of like GS with Turiaf. Also a player option contract is never good for the team. oh well.                                                                                                          Regarding Tony Allen, if we were going to bring him back, why draft another sg in giddens? Seems that Ray, Paul, Eddie, Pruitt, and Tony can all play the 2, so wasn't draftng Giddens over Chalmers a little like passing on Parker/Arenas for another 2 in Forte?

This was the correct move. As I've tried to explain many times before, Giddens should be considered an addition not a replacement.

I'm actually real happy with the signings. TA if completely healthy should be the 6th man on this team, he proved before his injury that he can flat out play. If we ever see the ferocious attacking style that made him the leader of the team when Pierce was out, again. Then he will be one of the biggest bargains in the NBA and in line to get a large portion of Ray's money when he comes off the books.
Eddy House proved that he can play during the regular season when as the primary back up point guard the team won as many games as it did. As long as Ainge doesn't bring in anyone to take some of Eddy Money's confidence he will also be a great signing.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The move wouldn't be now, but probably at the trade deadline.  I think a big man backup or a vet point would be a priority.  Although you can 'argue' that House is a point... he really isn't.

I doubt it, but maybe these signing are a sign of a trade coming. You can't get very good value back when all you have are rookie contracts and scals $3mil. But when you're able to combine some of those assets with two rotation guys locked in for more than one year ant under $3mil our options seem to open up a bit more ... obviously not saying this is gunna happen, but there does seem to be alot of redundancy in positions 2,3,4 right now.

Maybe there is a trade coming, but it seems unlikely.  Why would any team want to trade for House or Allen when they could've just signed them to begin with?  Furthermore, why would a team want to trade for Giddens or Walker when they could have had them pretty easily in the draft.  Neither has done anything since then to improve their stock.  As for Powe and Davis, maybe something could be done with them: their stock is probably as high as it will ever be.  But then Danny better be getting a big back in return or have a plan to pick one up via the FA market.

id lean toward the big man. id like to think danny learned his lesson from pushing a completely capable player out of the lineup when in the end he proved he could handle himself just fine in the clutch as a backup to rondo. not to mention pruitt is there in support as well. we have enough ballhandlers to make trying to sign another vet pg a waste of time.

as fr big man i think danny still has his eye on mourning and his defense. his experience could be very beneficial to a young player like o bryant as well if zo will come up for a couple of months and a title run.

EDIT: todays globe has ainge saying hes basically satisfied with our roster right now. i assume the rookies will get signed probably sometime at the beginning of next month and we'll go with that group into the season with the 1 roster spot open. im satisfied with that. good job danny.

yes, both very good moves. now it would be great to sign ryan gomes. (but I suppose it won't be easy as Wolves have the option of matching the offer..)

  • all hail garfield-sama!
The Eddie and Tony signings really made me happy. From the ones we lost, Posey, Cassell, Pollard and Brown, only Posey's departure will sting the most. With a year's worth of NBA experience and playing as a group, the team chemistry will be very strong already, the players will be more familiar with each other and thus I can say that Banner 18 will be easier than getting Banner 17. The Cs exceeded everything that was expected of them last year, no reason they can't do it again. Well, with the remaining MLE, maybe we can use it once the season unfolds and we find players that may fit our needs. No need to rush things. And we can always do the "PJ Thing" come February.  ;D  :o  ;D

If a deal were in the works, a 2 year low money contract are the most flexible to add if needed. TA is not an awful. In fact he could provide us with that 2nd team scorer. Hopefully he matures in more ways then one. House, knows the system, and we know his weaknesses. His heart is not one of them. I thought that both could be resigned. Over all the team has not been upgraded but as chemistry goes I think there is merit to the signings.
