Bonzi Wells?? Bonzi is the kind of player who can singlehandedly put his own team out of the playoffs. Give him 10 minutes in an elimination game and there's a good chance that he'll kill you.

Except for the fact that he was a key reserve on a very good Hornets team that went to the second round.

He was such a key player that in the last games Byron Scott basically kept him in the doghouse. In the last 6 games vs. the Spurs he averaged 29 %FG, 0 %3pt, 0 %FT, 2ppg, 2rpg and more turnovers than assists in 10 mpg. And the stats make him look better than he actually was.  Wells has been quickly declining in the last couple of years and he's yet to acknowledge that fact. If he could play within his current limitations, he'd still be a valuable player. But suddenly he has a good game and he becomes a major liability for the following 10 games.

yeah, i think it's crash course time for JR and Walker and then try and do something during the season. i think the guys we are talking about - ironically -  would be a waste of money....

How about the combo of Ross and Nachbar?

Ross can be the defensive SG/SF the Celtics need.

Nachbar can be the shooting SF/PF they need.

Plus, still split the MLE between Aroyo and Thomas.

Spend the MLE on signing Bill Walker to a 3 year deal, bringing Delonte West back to Boston, and sign Quinton Ross.

Heres my idea, get house lue, marbury and miles, trade ray ray scalibrine for shawn marion

C  Garnett Perkins O'bryant
PF Marion  Powe    Davis
SF Pierce  Miles   Walker
SG Marbury House   Giddens
PG Rondo   Lue     Pruitt

I don't see much wrong with that roster, obviously im talking about marburry getting bought out and i don't know exactly what miles wants but we have a full MLE to chip away at those guys

  • Basketball is like chess, only without the dice

The only thing about Ross is that he adds almost nothing offensively.  Our bench's biggest problem last year was scoring, and Ross doesn't help that.

I agree, but lets also consider Posey only scored 7 points a game last year. I thought the reason everybody wanted him back was mostly for his defense, and for his big shots, obviously its going to be tough to replace the great clutch shots, but his defense is replaceable

Well, Ross would be replacing House, right?  It's not as if we can ask him to defend SFs/PFs like Posey.

Why not? Ross is the better SF defender available and it's not even close. The problem is clearly that he can't provide spacing and with Rondo as the pg we badly need it.

I don't think so.  Ross played full-time at SG last year in the Clippers' system.  That doesn't mean he didn't switch on to small forwards on defense, but he's a SG.  His defensive numbers' were greatly inferior to Posey's, as well.

Posey was overrated as a defender on power forwards.  As a small forward, though, he was excellent (and again, was superior to Ross.)

Huh? He did not play full-time at SG last season. He was always guarding the best winger of the opponent. Why did you say he played full-time SG? Ross is a pure wing defender, he guards the opponent best winger, be him a SG or a SF. It doesn't really matter his offensive position, in our system the wingers are interchangeable. Of course his stats are greatly inferior to Posey's, he was playing for a bad defensive team, not for the best.

Need a PG & C, plus a little O off the bench

First off: Good luck to you Mr. Posey, and thanks for everything.  Hope to see you on the other bench when the C's make the Finals next year.

Now, the Celtics need a PG and a Center, plus some offense off the bench.  The Celtics next season do not need to be an exact carbon copy of this season to win.  So... Maybe we resign TA, and start him.  He plays MUCH better as a starter, and then we bring Ray off of the bench for scoring.

Also, get Ty Lue, or Steph Marbury.  They both fit with this squad, and should be pretty cheap.  Lue is a better PG, and we need a PG.  Anyone else remember House trying to bring the ball up against Lyndsay Hunter.  Marbury is talented, has someting to prove, and pretty young.  I think he could really help this squad.  His persona is hit & miss - I still like his cheap bball shoe for those who can't afford Air Jordans. Remember Steph had his best time alongside KG in 'Sota, and he really only fell off when Isiah came into the picture.

Sign Matt Barnes.  He's a scappy guy, and can help if the rooks need more seasoning.

Then for another big (maybe O'Bryant will work out, maybe he won't- best hedge our bets with another big) sign either Melvin Ely or Primoz Brezec.  Ely, when he gets minutes, can play and take up some space.  Brezec is soft (shocking for a Euro not named Drazen), but can hit the PJ Brown 14 footer.

I think the Cs can do this all with the $$$$ they have left.

Our bench (if Ray Allen starts over TA) is

Ty Lue or Starbury
TA (or sub Ray in here, and TA as a starter)
Matt Barnes
Leon Powe/Big Baby
Melvin Ely  or Primoz Brezec

Add this to our returning squad, and we are on our way to the ECF, with a shot at #18!!!

That's really bad.

KG doesn't like to play C.

Marion can't handle being 3rd (or 4th with this team) wheel.

Marbury size and defense will kill this team at SG

i really have no interest in Ross.

but it's kinda funny that our bench could be pretty good with TA, DWest and Gomes....too bad DWest and Gomes are RFA.

I'm not wild about Quinton Ross. Three years ago he looked like he was on the verge of becoming one of the best stoppers in the league. The past two years he hasn't looked much more than slightly above average as a defensive player. I'd much rather have Tony defensively.

Yah ur prolly right but its still fun throwing stuff together, maybe if you moved pierce to the bench, put marion at SF, garnett at pf and perk at C

Danny has said all along that he has a Plan B, and it definitely wasn't Plan A. A replacement will be signed within 2 days.

Marbury's defense at shooting guard is pretty solid. It's certainly better than his D as a point guard. His lack of lateral quickness doesn't get exposed and he's strong enough to hold his own in the post against most shooting guards. He's done a fine job on two guards in the past. Overall I'd say he's an average defender at the position.

We can do better than average, and if we're going to settle for average we can do better offensively.

Isn't Patterson the closest thing to Posey left on the market? And since he did not have a job for most of last season he could be had for the minimum.

I'll root for many guys, but PLEASE don't bring in that rapist. I'd much rather see Wyc make a little less profit and pay Posey than have to root for a team with that rapist, just so Wyc makes more money.

SF -  Barnes or Delfino or Nachbar
PG -  Marbury
C  -  Kurt Thomas or Theo Ratliff
SG -  Tony Allen

Re - sign House.

These are the best moves possible.

I overlooked Kurt Thomas.  He'd be a great addition.  Perfect.
