Just pondering that rookie scale question a bit further.

Was looking for a few other first round picks in similar situations. Came up with Nikoloz Tskitishvili and Luke Jackson. Niko only earned the minimum at 750k his third year after Denver let him go. He was traded halfway through the year but played the whole year on that contract. Luke Jackson was waived from Miami but again was on the minimum not the rookie scale.

Wonder why ESPN has Gerald Green up at $1.4mil.

I don't mind if it was for part of the LLE.

I hope it was the minimum, though, as I don't think there are limits as to how many vet minimum contractors you can have on a team, and it's not as much money?

This is the perfect time for me to go look at the SALARY CAP FAQ 2008 EDITION thing. =)

EDIT: Just read it again, and with that said, I hope they use the 0.41 Mil left from the LLE on Walker, and the NONBIRD EXCEPTION on Eddie House.

Maybe they meant 1.4 for both years combined?  That would be 700k, just under the 750 that Jackson and Skita signed for.

I think they meant 1.4 million combined too. GG's track record is currently a bit spotty.

Wee the people of CB need more news!

Posey should be signed today, for the 2 year MLE (I wish).

This has nothing to do with anything.

Actually as I look closer I realize belatedly that they're last season's salaries and not this season. They've switched the players to new rosters but not their salary figures.

I only found out recently that ESPN had salaries on the teams roster pages. They seem to be more accurate than the Hoopshype ones if you have the correct year available! They only show the one year and they still think it's last season over at ESPN. Hoopshype has many of last summers extensions missing which causes problems.

You'd expect ESPN to update their site more often than this.

I find it strange that some of the same people who will complain about an extra $1.5 million for O'Bryant are the same people willing to drop $15 million on Posey.

The argument will of course be that the fiscal irresponsibility of giving a leeser player like O'Bryant the cash may cost the Celtics from getting a player of Posey or House's quality.

People see that, but they can't see that being fiscally irresponsible with Posey over his last couple three years might cost the Celtics from signing someone significantly better at another time.

Astounds me!

Okay since everyone else is obsessing my turn.

The 2006 NBA draft brought us Rajon Rondo and Leon Powe, two of the better players in that draft.

I assume that POB is a guy that we were taking a hard look at,at number seven.

Scott Souza has an entertaining article on just this thought.

I'd take a flyer on him.

We should have used the money to resign House.

This has nothing to do with anything.
But why does your avatar have a red x?

I'm assuming that was addressed to me, as it coincides with the fact that I tried to upload an avatar with the C's all over it, but it didn't work because it was probably too large of a file.

It did not give me any notice that the file was too big either.

Anyways, regarding why he was not signed to the Vet's minimum, I was thinking maybe a team or another offered him slightly more than the vet's minimum?

If it was the LLE, if fully agree.

This is just a thought and I am not saying it is true, but has anyone ever thought that maybe the reason we aren't seeing much ink on House is because the Celtics have determined they do not want him back?

And if that's true, I guess if they did use the LLE on O'Bryant it wouldn't have any effect on House since it has been determined they are going in a different direction.

Perhaps, and again I am only suggesting it I am not saying it is true, that Eddie's trouble being a true point, extended slump at the end of the year and then opening his mouth during the playoffs regarding playing time has left a bad taste in management's mouth about bringing him back. Doc's reluctance to go away from Cassell would make some sense if those feelings do exist within the organization.

I still have a hard time believing Spears' numbers and will wait for official league or team disclosure of the contract details before I believe that the World Champions would need to over pay to lure a 22 year old, unproven, raw center to play here. I still say it's a minimum contract team option for the second. O'Bryant hasn't earned the right to a bigger contract offer from a team that just won it all when considering the resume he presents.
