I wouldn't care one way or the other.  The league *should* have a franchise in Boston, but it doesn't bother me in the least that they don't.

(Plus, people in New England who want to see the WNBA can drive to Connecticut to watch the Sun play.)

We got Connecticut, no need for Boston.

I'd hate for the city to add a team and then not support it, which is what I believe would happen.

That's just not nice!!

I myself have no opinion one way or the other if a WNBA team comes to Boston. I am not a fan of the WNBA and don't follow it but if a team came here I would probably feel the same way about it as I do the Bruins or Revelution. I wouldn't watch the games, I wouldn't attend the games, I wouldn't care how successful they are but I will be glad for them and their proud representation of Boston within their league if they become a success.

I think the better question than if people would want a WNBA franchise in Boston is whether a WNBA franchise in Boston is even feasible. Is there enough of a fan base that makes hosting a WNBA franchise fiscally viable?

CT is close enough.  But I'd love to see a D-league team affiliated with the Celtics in Worcester or Providence. I know there has been talk of a D-league franchise in Portland, ME, but for me that's just too far to drive for an evening, and for others in the Boston area the price of gas would keep them away.

No, nor would I like a WNBA team in any city in America.

Ok, that's a bit harsh, but I'm really not a fan and I hate the idea of an unsuccesful league being kept alive for purely sexist reasons.  If you are producing a product for which there are not enough consumers to support it, your business should fail.

Ummm.... let me think.....NO!

I'm a female and can't watch the WNBA.

I get nightmares when I see the WNBA coaches.
I get that nightmare about my old "overly friendly"
gym teacher from high school.

I'm gonna go cry now!

I've never heard of this World Nerf Ball Association you speak of, but it sounds promising!

I wouldn't be an instant fan myself.  But having a daughter, I can value her going to see a person of the same sex playing a professional sport.  While I think we are a ways away as a society from "Get back in the kitchen and make me some bacon and eggs", (sorry Max) we still have some work to do.

I don't think it can hurt for a girl to think that they can work hard at a sport and make a living.   Many boys wanted to be centerfielders or pitchers for a big league ballclub growing up and those leadership skills developed in sports contributed to their personal successes.

As far as if or not its financially viable, don't worry about it.  I'm sure the owners aren't truly losing money on it in the big picture.   I'm sure they can trace NBA revenue back to WNBA expenditures.  If they were losing money with the venture they would dissolve the league (XFL, NFL Europe etc).

Wouldn't care one way or the other, really. I find it difficult to watch the WNBA.  Not very entertaining, imo.  I would at least try to watch if there was a Boston team though.

Only if they won a championship in their first year... Boston's no place for rebuilding anymore...

I get a sense that if there was a wnba team here, it wouldn't last long. Not only would they get no support from celtics fans, they would also get rideculed. I for one agree that its a buisness, and based on its lack of success, it should be shut down
