The Globe article mentioned that Danny called several free agents, but did not disclose all of them (it seemed that Maggette let the media know not Danny). Who else do you think Danny offered a pay cut with the chance of a championship? My money is on Elton Brand, if he's forced to take a pay cut with the Clips to sign Baron why not the C's? Any other ideas of potential free agents Ainge would call right after mid night?

A "pay cut" with the Clippers is still a heckuva lot more than we can offer Brand.  He's not coming here.

Brand took a paycut so he could sign with the clippers and play with Davis.  Why would he want to come here and be a backup.  Its honestly one of the dumbest posts ive seen on this board in a while.

We've been linked to our own free agents plus Maggette, Chris Anderson, Chris Duhon, Keyon Dooling, Tyrone Lue, and Jason Williams, off the top of my head.

My guess is that Danny had some "testing the waters" conversations with the agents for other guys prior to the start of free agency (illegal, but every GM does it), and only had formal discussions with those who had indicated some level of interest.  I'm sure he spoke with David Falk at some point to see what Brand's plans were, but it was clear a couple of days ago the Brand would be returning to LA.

He has yet to take a Paycut, from the Clippers to play with Davis. He hasn't come to terms with them yet, I'm pretty sure the Clippers didn't talk to him before they offered Davis a contract (because it was such a last minute thing). He would not come to be a back up he would start moving KG to the five just like we did all season whenever Perk wasn't in the game. He would come here to win a championship something that the Clips aren't doing even with Davis.
As far as you comment about the dumbest thing you've read here; 1. I've read some much more proposterous things on this board. 2. If you disagree no need to call my idea dumb this isn't the espn.com board. 3. Insulting an idea of mine is something a new comer might read and decide not to post, so to make this a good environment let's try to keep it friendly.

Yes, as a reminder, treat others with respect at all times.

As for the idea of Brand, as mentioned above, I'm sure Danny did his due diligence.  However, Brand is rumored to be taking approximately $12 million per season in LA.  There's a big difference between that and the $5.8 million we could offer.

To suggest that Brand will sign with the celtics is an idea that deserves to be called dumb.  Especially when there is no substantiated reason to believe that it would happen.  I stand by my statement.  I treated you with respect, i just didn't treat your idea with respect because it doesn't deserve it.

The Clippers can't even sign Davis without resigning Brand first. The only reason Brand opted out was to give them the chance of getting Davis. All was agreed before both of them opted out, it's naif to think otherwise. Plus, he's going to get something close to a $100M/6 years contract and the max the Celtics could offer him would be a $30M/5 years deal.

Pierce is friends with Brand and has been trying to convicne him to come to the c's for the last few years. Danny has had his eye on him for a while (before Garnett was a possibility). Also I guess having the dumbest post you've seen isn't bad considering you've only had like 75 posts, not a large sample to judge from.

Listen you can attempt to start a feud with me all you want.  But its pretty obvious that Davis had a deal in place with the clippers before he officially was allowed too. Which leads me, and everybody else to believe brand opted out just to come back at a pay cut.  But please do not question my credibility when you are the one thinking brand will wear celtic green.

I stand by my statement.

In case I wasn't clear:  your statement was unacceptable.  We don't allow posts like that here, because by their nature, they're demeaning.  You can disagree with somebody's point of view without labeling it as "dumb".  Many others have been able to do so, and I'm sure you're capable, as well.

Everybody should stop the bickering, now.
