hope we keep Posey and House, they were really big contributors to banner 17 especially Posey.. with Cassell, hope we can give his playing time to Pruitt so we can develop him, maybe as 3rd string PG after House.. and who doesn't love PJ?! maybe we can give his minutes to BBD and Powe for the regular season and maybe re-activate him once the playoffs come near.. i feel for TA, but maybe this is the time we may have to part ways with him..

CMoney doesn't love PJ.  Also, he doesn't like Giddens, and didn't love Paul out of college because he only shot 69.7% on his FTs, and 35.5% from 3 PT range.   ;D

 :)that would be cmoney

id say retain posey and house.. then our lineup would be sorta like this

pg: rondo-pruitt-house
sg: allen-giddens(or ta could be here too)
sf: pierce-posey-walker
pf: kg-powe-scal(inactive)
c: perk-baby

we retain roster spots for veteran big man come late in the season, maybe pj coming out of retirement once more or pollard if hes healthy.. they could take the roster spot of any of the rookies come playoffs. but reg season i say we give em some burn

God please no PJ Brown.. unless he takes over Pollard's role as Mr. Formal Wear.  I wouldn't be able to take it.

You don't like stout post defenders who rebound well, protect the rim and take hard fouls, and hit timely shots, while being a great locker room leader and mentor to Powe and BBD?

Maybe Danny can figure out a way to bring Tim Duncan off the bench. Would that please you?

TP, i just don't get the rampant Pj hate. he was our most reliable big off the bench. he gave us good minutes, rebounded well, and didn't allow layups, and hit timely shots. thats pretty much the definition of veteran presence off the bench.

i mean, he only won us an elimination game with a clucth shot and played well in dozens of other games, but apparently alot of people thing he's the plague  ::)

It looks like we need to make roster room for Giddens and Walker or risk losing their rights.  I think letting Pollard and T Allen walk allows for this.  Posey and House need to come back.  Not yet convinced on PJ or Sam.  We may leave an open roster spot to sign PJ part way through the season again.  PJ may become the basketball version of the Rocket, but by looking at PJ's body I am pretty sure he is not on steroids.

Gotta keep Eddie and Posey. Eddie looked almost as important to me as Posey once Doc gave him back his minutes.

good luck to Sam with his coaching plans - i just don't see why you would bring him back at all.

also don't see bringing back Pollard or Scal. sign the rookies and spend the season looking for a quality big man if PJ retires.

doesn't rebound well at all given his size, his defense is way overhyped.  He doesn't make any brutal mistakes, but he's slow on rotations and is forced to foul very often.

You guys are really ridiculous.  The numbers are readily available.   His rebounding #s are garbage.  He's going to be 39 next year people.  I don't have anything personal against PJ.  He had a great career.  I ultimately feel he hurt our team more than helped it, but that doesn't matter one iota anymore.  Let him retire with his ring out on top.

Powe is one of the best bench bigs in the league.. his production proved it.  Frankly I felt terrible for him when he was a key part of our 66 wins, continued to outplay PJ in the playoffs, and had to deal with his minutes evaporating.  Yes he makes some boneheaded defensive mistakes occasionally.  Guess how he gets better?  Playing time.  And even with his defensive lapses, the Cs perform better with him on the floor, because he actually offers something offensively.  Actually, he offers a ton, as he's relentless with attacking the basket and putting the pressure on opposing big men, and he's one of the best offensive rebounders in the league (yes, truly one of the best, no exaggeration).  For some reason we all love to ignore the fact that PJ offers almost zero offensively, and cover it up by thinking going 4 on 5 is a good thing.  Offensive rebounding is highly underrated, and Leon is one of the best.  Give the kid his burn and let him learn on the defensive end.  He can bail out foul just as good as PJ.

I wish more basketball fans had gambling backgrounds.  There's something we like to call "being results oriented".  It refers to when you praise yourself for a bad move, just because it turned out OK.  For instance putting $10K on red at the roulette wheel and winning.  It's a sucker move you just got lucky. I'm about as big a Celtics fan as you can be.  I was jumping and singing PJ's praise when he went 4-4 in game 7 vs CLE too, just like I was yelling "Go PJ!!!" when he had an awesome game against LA after being absolutely AWFUL versus Detroit.  But like LeBron said after the game, we'll live with PJ taking jumpers with the game on the line.

All the data, everything I've seen, says PJ is way below average, and he's not like some defensive guru.  He's not Duncan out there.  He's not even Kurt Thomas.  He's old and slow and has to foul a lot because of it.  It happens.  We've got a unique talent in Leon.  I don't want him only getting 10 mpg and racking up DNPs.  Because there are other smart GMs out there who see his #s, see what a sick rebounder and offensive talent he is compared to his worth on the FA market, and they'll gobble him up and offer him first big off the bench role.   And he wouldn't think twice about walking for the money, either, because he gets buried behind worse players here in Boston, even when Mike Zarren (front office stats guru) is in Doc's ear saying "PLAY POWE".

I don't want to make the same mistake Miami did.  PJ got brought in to win a ring, and we accomplished that.  He's old, he's been on a fast decline for a few years now.  I think he probably retires anyway, but should he want to play another year, it's time for Danny to use his head, not his heart.

I never said he did, but he ain't much worse (seriously how did anyone watching the DET series claim his D was good), and defense isn't everything.  It's not even "half" the game, as I think the majority of you are separating defense and defensive rebounding.  There's a difference, but defensive rebounding is key in order to end possessions.  They're actually somewhat even in this department, based on regular season data (though as I noted, PJ's rebounding came back down to earth and then some in the playoffs).  I know we're this defensive juggernaut, but offense matters, and PJ doesn't come close to making up for his offensive ineptitude on the defensive end.

Powe basically gets crapped on for his D because he can't guard Gasol, only one of the elite offensive PFs in the league.  It was a dumb assignment to begin with.  Yet we all ignore he defended Odom WAY better than PJ did (which, in defense of PJ, was also a dumb assignment to give him).  Leon is OK back there and he's far superior when you factor in everything else.  PJ is also old as dirt and has declined each of the past 4 years.  He'll be 39.  Be realistic here folks.

Sam won't be back, definitely. Posey wants to stay, House will probably go for money unless he takes a reasonable offer. And unless somebody gives huge bucks to Tony, we will re-sign him at cheap. Brown will retire, Pollard could be re-signed but only for the sake of insurance. Doc will go small anyway with Powe and Baby.

I have a feeling that our point guard rotation next year is Rondo - Sam - Pruitt.  I hope that's not the case, but I'm not getting the impression that the Celts are going to make a serious effort to resign Eddie.  Of course, free agency hasn't even started yet, so who knows?

We need Posey + at least one point guard + at least one big man.  Ideally, we could end up with Posey / Duhon / Mourning, but I'm skeptical of that.

I don't think they will bring back House either...but I think there is even less of a chance that Cassell comes back.
Why so down on Eddie's chances of returning guys?

I think he's extremely likely to be back in green. The chances of someone outbidding us for Eddie are minimal. The chances of us getting a better option for non-MLE money are minimal. Eddie is happy here and just won the title. Where's the problem?

I have no interest in Cassell or Pollard, and PJ Brown is retiring.  The others I want back.

They need to sign a backup center.  That leaves roster spots for Giddens and Walker.

Pollard was very good defensively, and he got a new pair of ankles this season and should be ready to go for the next season. They basically reconstructed his ankles, he had multiple injuries. He is very useful against guys like D12 and Big Z, and would likely be 3rd string because we would mainly play small ball with Powe and Baby. And he can aslo be had for very cheap.

Try seeing a game then, maybe?
