"We would like to bring our whole team back," Rivers said. "Pose we love. With P.J. we just don’t know. I talked to him right after the season, and he just didn’t know. But I told him that he had to go home and think about it. I would like to have P.J. back - our goal is to bring everyone back - but he’s going to need some time."

"Sam just didn’t have long enough (to learn the system), but we want him back, too," Rivers added. "All of these are guys we have to talk to, but we do have to try and pay all of these other guys off."

"I’d be happy with trying to bring them all back. The problem will be trying to do it," he concluded.

Posey we need to sign, Tony Allen be nice to have, but Cassell and PJ I don't know. I think we could find somebody else then them two. PJ did great in the playoffs, but with perk and that shoulder, we may need a big man backup who can play major minutes and I don't know if PJ can fill that roll. And Sam, I just don't like him in our system even if he learns it. With House, I'd love to resign him too. I just think we can do better with Sam  and PJ.

I wouldn't underestimate PJ's off court influence. With a new guy coming in one or several vets need to get into his head fast and get him off to a good start. PJ is perfect for this.

I don't care if Eddie's back, but we need Jalen House, kids gonna be a year older, a year quicker, that much better with the towels - we don't see green 18 without Jalen House

I have a feeling that our point guard rotation next year is Rondo - Sam - Pruitt.  I hope that's not the case, but I'm not getting the impression that the Celts are going to make a serious effort to resign Eddie.  Of course, free agency hasn't even started yet, so who knows?

We need Posey + at least one point guard + at least one big man.  Ideally, we could end up with Posey / Duhon / Mourning, but I'm skeptical of that.

I'd like Posey, the House's, and P.J. back.  I think that puts us at 14.  That would still give us an opportunity to go after another center if need be. P.J. only began to play well in the playoffs.  If he could play a whole season, he'd be better, and I think that would help spare Perk, and also KG.  I do think we can get another center if P.J. decides to retire. But his senior leadership would be missed.

I could care less about Sam.  Also, I think little Jalen's presence at the very least suggests that Eddie might be looking for a home.  I'm sure moving around like he has is going to be much more difficult with a family.

Can we sign TA and then trade him for a pick? Or maybe Swift, or someone like that?  I cannot imagine that Danny would just let Tony walk, but I don't see a future for him here given that we paid for Walker.

I've never been happier to give out a TP. Eddie rules.

Roy, I don't disagree with you. I think the feeling is, Eddie can come back if he takes a contract starting at 1.8 mil. If he wants more than that, we can't use the LLE on him, and we don't want to use the MLE money since we'll probably need it for Posey. So, we're pretty hamstrung with that. Sam will sign for the vet minimum, which is very appealing because it doesn't require the owners to pay the luxury tax on those dollars. I think if Eddie takes the 1.8 starting salary, he's in and we'll likely tell Cassell to look elsewhere. If Eddie wants more, he's gone and we probably bring Cassell back.

Cap question for you, Roy: I know you can use the MLE or LLE on numerous players. But can you use money from different exceptions to sign one player? That is, let's say we use $2.25 mil of the MLE to sign House next year. Can we then give Posey the remainder of the MLE AND all of our LLE money? Or can only one exception be used to sign a player?
Go Celtics.

No, you can't do that.  As you said, the MLE can be split among multiple players.  However, exceptions (in the case, the MLE and LLE) cannot be combined.

God please no PJ Brown.. unless he takes over Pollard's role as Mr. Formal Wear.  I wouldn't be able to take it.

I don't think they will bring back House either...but I think there is even less of a chance that Cassell comes back.

You don't like stout post defenders who rebound well, protect the rim and take hard fouls, and hit timely shots, while being a great locker room leader and mentor to Powe and BBD?

Maybe Danny can figure out a way to bring Tim Duncan off the bench. Would that please you?

I agree PJ will be nice to bring back, but how many minutes will he be able to endure over the full season.

I really hope Sam goes to Denver to start his career as a player/coach.  Besides he fits their (lack of a) system.  I like PJ's game but his heart was at home last year and I think now with a ring, his kids getting older and being on the brink of 40 now is a time to go.  I'd like to have him back, but I agree his role should be Pollard's we need a big in front of him so he could only be insurance.
