I was originally hoping for someone in the CDR/Walker mold. Giddens sounds like an excellent gamble. An athletic freak that can play. In Danny I trust.

We really, really, really need some size off the bench.

It seems like all the good teams (except Detroit) have huge front courts. All the Celtics are undersized except KG. Rondo is, Ray is (slightly), Pierce is (slightly), Perk is, Powe is, BBD is, House is, TA is.... Pruitt is an undersized shooting guard. right now, our biggest guy off the bench is 6'8" (maybe). No way are we repeating if we don't get another PJ Brown type (defensive 7 footer). NJ and Toronto are in our division and they just got a whole lot bigger. LA, Phoenix, Cleveland, Orlando, etc. all have bigger teams.... Argh.

I wish we would have drafted Hardin. He's a great shot blocker....

Agreed.  We need BIGS!!!!  Hardin would of helped with interior defense.

Guys, this is not just some raw athletic freak in the Kedrick Brown mold.  He is a scorer, plain and simple, with a bit of Paul Pierce in him (e.g. the knack to make the moves to find the hole).  He also is a very good ball distributor, a good rebounder, and a good defender.  He's legit - assuming he keeps his head on straight - which I really think he will.

As a New Mexico Lobos fan, I've never been happier - first Lobo ever drafted by the C's!  He's up there with Danny Granger in terms of talent.

idk about his character.. last thing you need is a guy that actually belongs on the knicks or nuggets.

Become Legendary.

Great article on who Giddens is and what hes all about. Explains his character issues that caused him to slide in the draft.

Sorry, but I didn't want to draft the second coming of Jamal Sampson. Enough with the big man fetish.

TP. I think a lot of fans here haven't seen him play, and are underestimating his basketball IQ, and how he regularly plays bigger than his size on both ends of the floor.

To the CDR lovers out there, beware 2nd banana's to great college players.  Certain guys have this knack of making everyone around them look better than they actually are.

Danny's record bottom feeding in the draft is pretty remarkable and once you saw everyone grabbing these young guys -- several of whom will be busts, btw -- you knew that one or more guys that Danny had targeted were going to fall.

Doc also said on TV they want someone who can come in and play right away.  His FT shooting is certainly a concern but this guy won't be on the floor with a game on the line anytime soon, so it's less of a factor.

Stay tuned though because there's obviously a method to Danny's madness and he's still got a lot of work to do to get the team ready for next season.

Well-said, TP ... and Danny has more things "up his sleeve" I guarantee you ... this thing is far from done.

check out the giddens conference call:

http://www.nba.com/celtics/playoffs2008/playoffs-postups.html

seems like a humble yet confident kid. confident about what he can do for this team. not shying away about the questions about his past issue. just remaining positive. i really think hes got a chance to get some burn this year.
