From what i have read on giddens, he is insanely athletic and maybe the best athlete in the draft. He can rebound very well for a guard which is always a plus, he has what it takes to be a defensive stopper with his freakish athletic skills. He is an excellent and I mean excellent distributor even though he is not a PG. He can drive very well, his shot is sort of unorthodox, but he is very good off the dribble.
To me he sounds and looks like a bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic, better shooter, better passer than TA

I just wish we took chalmers, because he can play lock down D and shoot the 3. I know we have pruitt but I feel that we were handed chalmers with his slippage and we passed on him. Could you imaging chalmers and rondo grabbin steals in the backcourt.

If not chalmers, then i wish CDR, but I guess if posey comes back then we dont have any need for CDR at SF.

Who knows maybe giddens is a pick for someone else.

He was a McDonalds All-American..played at Kansas for his first two seasons. Had some off the court (being dumb) and on the court trouble (injuries) which then he transferred to New Mexico.

This pick was irrelevant anyways....... we all know you win championships with veterans.

JR will be in the D-league all next year anyways......

Hope he turns out better than other JR's that have entered the league (i.e. JR Ryder, JR Bremer, JR Smith)

Either that or he's the next coming of Gerald Green in terms of length in the NBA

From CBS Sportsline...guess he and Pierce have something in common.

A tremendous athlete who doesn't sacrifice good touch, as he shot 51.6 percent from the field as a senior. A solid 3-point shooter averaged 33 percent or better from beyond the arc in three of his four seasons at New Mexico. Energetic player is a relentless rebounder who uses his leaping ability and long arms to play bigger than his frame around the basket. He averaged 8.8 boards in 2007-08 - 1.3 higher than his average the previous season. Athleticism and long wingspan allow him to be an above-average defender. Gets excellent elevation on his jump shot, making it tough to defend. Driving to the basket is not one of his strengths. Also is not a great passer, and his mid-range game is largely undeveloped. A troubled past is a consideration, as Giddens transferred from Kansas after his sophomore season following his involvement in a bar brawl during which he was stabbed in his right calf. The former All-Big 12 freshman of the year ran into trouble again with the Lobos, as he was suspended indefinitely from the team during his junior season over problems with his attitude. Giddens' spotty past and questions about his mid-range game may drop him into the second round, but he's admitted to having made bad decisions and the electrifying dunker's raw ability could make him a steal for a team willing to take a chance on him.

Really disappointed in Danny here.  CDR and Chalmers were soooo much better.  Both should have gone in the 10-20 range, and both would help right away as well as in the long term.

Instead we get a 23 year old headcase swingman who shoots less than 60% from the line.  Do you have any idea how bad it is for a 2-guard to shoot under 60% from the line?  It's so bad, and equally as [dang]ing (probably doesn't like working).

If I have learned one thing, it is to pretty much never criticize a Danny Ainge draft pick.  I'll take the wait and see route on this one.

I would have preferred CDR, as well, but Danny has earned the benefit of the doubt.

A tremendous athlete with off the court issues who has the potential to play great defense, but isn't the world's best dribbler.  Apparently, we just drafted Tony Allen's younger brother.

I just can't get over shooting worse than 60% from the line as a 23 year old.  How many good NBA 2-guards shot worse than 70% from the line, never mind 60%.  So bad.

As a fan of another team in the Mountain West I got to see Giddens a lot. He was absolutely scary to go up against. He needs to work on his FTs, but his passing is better than that write up said. He can score, rebound and defend. You guys will like this guy if he acts the way he should.

Even though I wanted someone else, I like the pick still. Giddens will surely grow on me... especially if he can defend like it has been alluded to.

As a team going for a championship, he seems to have some skill sets that can help the team imediately, and I think that's important.
