If no Posey, Artest?

Artest is a headcase....... and besides, I don't think he'll take a paycut or come off the bench at this point in his career.... maybe in about 5 years......

I don't think he would work personality-wise since he is pretty thuggish and no one on our team is ghetto like it is.

Why would Artest opt out to earn far less money with us? MLE is way below his pay scale.

I would take Artest asap if Posey leaves, he's the only guy that can possibly replace Posey's defense and toughness, and can be an upgrade offensively. He won't fool around on this team, I'm not worried about his attitude. This would be a huge signing.

Anybody interested in Josh Childress? I was impressed by his hustle and play on the Hawks in the playoffs. He comes off the bench and has great energy. He can rebound and score. I would rather take him on our team than Artest.

Childress can't shoot and can't play defense. No interest. Only use is as a garbage man under the rim and along the baselines offensively and on the backboards. Not enough skill there.

Not Artest ... no way! He's about the worst person to add to an unselfish team, and his chemistry with these guys and Doc would be completely counter-productive ... not to mention he's one of the most immature, hot-headed, problematic players in the NBA. Terrible idea ... truly.

agreed.  id say he is not only the most problematic players in the nba, but in all of sports (he and TO are side by side).  artests skill set is a dream scenario for us, but its not worth the risk.

Wow. Not me. Kobe is one of a handful of players I wouldn't take under any circumstances - and it's not because I dislike him or the Lakers. Kobe is a cancer - Artest is just a loose cannon. Loose cannons can be reigned in - cancers just spread. Besides Artest fits a need. Kobe doesn't - we already have Pierce (whom I'd much rather have than Kobe).

how is attest not a cancer? what team has he ever touched that didn't implode completely (indiana) or get significantly worse (sac)?

also, kobe is a 2, what does he have to do with pierce? attest is a 3...he directly impacts pierce. that analogy makes little sense.

Maybe I can't remember or maybe I have just never payed too much attention to news coming out of northern California, but what exactly has Artest done in Sacramento that shows what a giant cancer he is?

He got there at the end of the Kings good run with Bibby, Peja, and Miller falling out of their prime. In 2007 they lost 11 games more than the year before but came back with 5 more wins this year in a very tough conference.

I'm not saying that Artest isn't a volcano waiting to explode, because he probably is. What I am saying is that his recent behavior, at least from what I can remember or have heard or read about isn't that bad. If he has turned a corner, and that's a gigantic if, is he such a bad option to think about if there is no Posey?

If there is no Posey is a Scal, Allen, Davis and a pick such a bad option in a trade? They got a lot less for Bibby!!

OK I lied - something else to contribute.

1664/78 = 21 MPG.  6 pts in 21 minutes isn't all that bad.

Plus, he's a defensive minded player.  Without Najera on that team the Nuggets would be a disaster defensively.  Camby wouldn't get his (undeserved) DPOYs.  Melo would foul out of every game.  Etc.

Najera would actually be a real good fit for the Celtics, IMO.  He can guard most 3/4 tweeners 1on1 very effectively, is a well-above-average team defender, great rebounder for his size, and has recently (this year) extended his range to the 3 pt line - he'd  be a great replacement for Posey if he doesn't return (please, no Pose!) but I'd like to see Eduardo in green either way.

which allen? if its tony, why on earth would sac take on scal's albatross contract and a guy with a history of catstropic injurys and incosistant play, and a bench rookie for ron artest? the 30th pick in the draft? no way they even look at that.

Thats a terrable trade for sac, unless their GM's been drinking, i don't think they take it. its a no risk trade for us, espacially if they don't sign him to an extension, but again this trade is so awful for sac...i don't see how you get them to take it. it would be diffrent if scal's contract was expiring.

as to what he's done, off the top of my head, he's had his commitment to basketball questioned by his owners, cused out an espn reporter, used team interviews to promote his rap label (this has been quashed since year one), and had his commitment to the team questioned by bibby.

other than that and assaulting a fan, he's been a model citizen.
