If no Posey, Artest?

Great idea.  Our coach has such a history of success handling difficult personalities.  Artest would have no problem being a 6th-7th man.  A match made in heaven.

Hey guys, I know I don't post here often but I had to reply to this because I think their is a major misconception about Ron Artest. I would have agreed with you all before a couple of weeks ago, saying he was a headcase, bad chemistry, etc. Even the media itself portrays Artest in this light, espicially after the infamous brawl at the Palace.  That all changed about two weeks ago though.

I have season tickets to the C's, and went to all the home play-off and finals games. Game 6, championship night....I was absolutely shocked and surprised to see Artest sitting in the direct row in front of me. Everybody was as its usually mostly season ticket holders in our section(Loge 14, row 5). I have always been a fan of his stellar defensive play and his offense, and granted I don't know how much of a "teammate" he is...but I was surprised as hell to see the type of person he was. I've met alot of players...at season ticket functions(mostly Celtics) and I have to say Ron Artest was BY FAR the nicest player I have ever met in my life. I walked up to him and introduced myself and said we could use him up in Boston, he said only after they won a ring haha.  But he was an absolute gentleman, taking pictures with kids, signing autographs, mingling more with the fans and talking with them throughout the game, more so then the buddy he came with (who was on his blackberry the whole time). All of this, while D-Wade walked through the tunnel next to our seats and didn;t even bother to even give a kid a high five at the tunnel.

I became a big fan of Artest after that night and I would love to see him in green, just proof of how players can be portrayed sometimes to us fans in a negative light.

Artest is a reportedly very nice guy so that's not too surprising.

But he is a bad teammate. I call him a 8/13 player. He has 8 games where he shares the ball and is the consummate teammate and then goes on 13 games acting like a selfish punk, breaking plays, not passing the ball to other scorers and generally just messing up his team. Then there's the temper tantrums which can get him completely out of the game or ejected from the game like at Salt Lake earlier this year.

personally,  i hope he goes to LA so KG can show him just how much of a "soldier" he is all up close and personal-like  

it would be a great addition for LA to take this rivalry to the next level.

Payton and Garnett would have been a killer combination back in the day. Used to wish for that match to happen. The defensive ability, the fastbreak, Payton's scoring, the two man game they'd play offensively would have been unguardable. They had incredible chemistry on the court during all-star games. Pity we never got to see it.

Payton's only asset was his yapper since he left Milwaukee.  He ceased to defend anything after that.  Who cares what he thinks?

the way i remember it, GP was interviewing Artest and a couple of the questions he asked were "who do you think is the most difficult to guard" and "who is the most overrated"...

the difficult to guard i think was LeBron and at first he didn't want to answer the second question, but GP goes "c'mon....you know it's Kevin Garnett.....you can say it..."

then they both started laughing and then Artest said something like he said in the Vescey article about KG not being clutch or playing as hard when his team is down...

this was right around the CLE series as i remember.

yeah, i am looking for the episode....it wasn't entirely clear if GP said it because Artest had already told him that before hand or if he said it because he himself thinks that.

either way he was definitely clowning on KG.

Should we be hoping for an Artest opt-out? Not because we can get him, but because it should improve our chances of getting Posey right?

I can see teams that would go after Posey go after Artest instead and spend on him...

Yep that makes good sense

However the odds of Ron-Ron opting out seem very low.
