its easy to make Doc the scapegoat, but you have to have to look at the players too - PP throwing his headband, dumb dumb dumb... Ray taking ill advised 3's when we need 2's, dumb dumb dumb - no one boxing out, how in the blue heck can you blame doc for that? Yes Doc could have controlled the game a bit more w/ his substitution patterns, but honestly the team that played better won tonight - I don't think it was purely a matter of coaching

We look at Doc because he is the person who is in charge.

He is the one that is suppose to make sure the team plays as hard on the road as they do at home.

He is the one that is suppose to keep his teams composure together.

He is the one that is suppose to make adjustments when things are going wrong.

He is the one that has never won in the first round.

Might as well pick on everything tonight.  I cannot stand listening to Doc's postgame comments.  He is the quintessential PR guy.  Drives me absolutely bonkers.  Everything is always fine and all right.  Drives me nuts.

Reminicent of the last Pacers playoff series. We win the blow outs but can't win the close ones.Despite more talent, Doc can't piece it together or be consistent.

Doc has allowed the Hawks to become a huge threat. Pierce has buckled under challenges and adversity.Again, no Tony Allen???? I thought we determined he'd be GOOD for this series, esp on the road.

I'm embarrassed to be a fan right now .... Guess we buckle up for game 7 now and try to get lucky.

Get 'lucky' at home. Have you watched the home games this series? Good Celtics at home, Bad Celtics on the road. Soooo frustrating.

Yeah, but there are no guarantees here. I wouldn't say game 7 is wrapped up right now. I'm shocked by our lack of poise. Thibideau might be the guy to run the team next year.

Just like the Celtics are.

But they can't seem to find the d on the road.

He's similar to Francona in that way, that he plays the PR game in front of the cameras, but you don't know what happens behind closed doors, I actually prefer it that way - I don't want to hear the coach lambast the team in front of the media, that just creates problems, keep it private (assuming he does it in private) and let the team work it out

The refs were terrible, but this loss goes on Doc all the way for tinkering with his new useful parts . . . . he was in panic mode all night . . . benching rondo for sam in the 4th - sam is the worst defensive point guard in the nba, the pick an roll leaves him in the dust - when he doesnt hit 80% from the floor he is a useless individudal - he is selfish and old and bad, but doc is a clown and hes friends with KG so instead of playing rondo for 40 and eddie for 8 we get sam . . . . eddie house cant bring it up against the pistons?  sam gets us in the offense with 8 left on the shot clock, then the offense is him shooting an off balance jumper . . . .  rondo is 3rd in the playoffs in assists ( he would be second but doc plays him 30 minutes while dwill and paul  both player over 40) . . . in PER he ranks 12th right behind garnett in the playoffs, and as for PG's he's only behind Paul and Tony Parker . . . yet doc plays him 30 while Sam ruins our flow . .
pj brown comes in halfway through the season and plays like garbage - he has not shown anything and been given ample time to do so - never saw hime when he was good,  but this year he looks like the most uncoordinated player I have ever seen in the league - he can hit that jumper? really? i dont see it . . . meanwhile big baby drops 20 in detroit and dominates the 4th and this guy doesnt sniff the floor - at that point in detroit baby was the backup, settled no question . . . but doc loves vets . . . we've always known this . . .
on another note - kendrick perkins is a beast on defense . . wake up - he needs to play more - he played 34 but should have played 40 (let him foul out) - didnt miss a shot or a free throw - 5 rbs, stl, 2 blks, 0 to's . . .
luckily we can win despite doc in game 7 - then lets hope he realizes who deserves to be in the game . . i am angry but I have game 7 tickets now and I will be going nuts just as everyone should . . . this team is great and they need to regain the confidence that we all saw all season . . . Go C's

When your coach says HE'LL LIVE with Ray taking that three out of the timeout (down by just two), that right there is a CLEAR SIGN THAT HE MUST GET OUTTA  HERE!!

anybody that plays or watches ball knows that good coaches should not be satisfied with that!

I have always liked Doc, and given him the benefit of the doubt, but if he called that play, or even "can live" with that horrible decision for Ray to take that idiotic three when all they needed was a two, he should be fired .... period. That was the stupidest decision I've seen in years, and the rotation tonight stunk! It made no sense whatsoever and showed absolutely a complete lack of knowledge of the game. Really TERRIBLE job, Doc, and you should be ashamed of your performance and the excuses you made after this rediculous loss! Shame on you, Doc Rivers!

A three with 10 second left.

The best outcome.  Celtics are up one point with 10 seconds left for the Hawks to win it.

Run the pick.  But get the ball to KG down low on the switch.

Get the ball to KG down low even if there is no switch.

I just don't understand.

How does a team go from the best defense in the NBA at home to a team that can't get an important stop when it matters?

How can a team with great inside scorers at their positions (KG, Pierce, and Cassel) continue to fire up outside shots during dry spells?

How can a vet team keep losing it's cool on the road?

A. The other team is more athletic than they are and Joe Johnson's a stud.  As Bill Simmons pointed out in his column on the demise of the Suns, them losing Johnson was an incredibly bad management decision by them.  Superstars respond when it counts and he's entering that level.  Ray Allen on the other hand, is departing that level. He's aging before our eyes.]

B.  KG is not a great inside scorer.  It's the one flaw in his game and it's a major one since the team has no good inside scorers save for Pierce.  Remember one thing -- jump shooting teams never win consistently in the playoffs.  The Hawks when they want to defend inside, cause the Celtics serious problems.  The answer -- Big Baby.

C.  Because they've got some holes, which are being exposed.  Rondo showed his immaturity tonight at a key moment trying to do it all himself and Doc pulled him.  Right move BTW.   Also they're not physical enough up front when confronted by a young and athletic team.  KG for all his greatness isn't a banger and the refs are rewarding the Hawks aggressiveness.  Again, the answer for Game 7 -- Big Baby.

I don't have a problem with Ray taking that 3 or if Doc drew that play up or if Doc can live with it.

I prefer we take our risks on the road to win the game other than just tie it up on a 2 pointer by KG who doesn't want to take that shot anyway in crunch time.

I agree. Without Pierce you'd prefer not to have to go to OT.  The 3 was going to be an easier shot than going inside.

They are just as athletic at home.  Celtics stomp them badly.

When KG decides to score in the low post, no one on the Hawks have stopped him.

These holes would be there in Boston.  The defense is not even close to being what it has been all year that the Celtics are playing on the road in the playoffs.

Really disliked that play especially.  I felt like the Celts actually had a bit of momentum working and OT would have been ok.  Or at least have a look-see down low then kick it back out for a three with a little more time off the clock.
Yup
