This will never come out but the only thing that would make me not want to throw up is if Tatum basically said he needed to get away from JB. I doubt that happened and even if it did we will never know but that is the only acceptable reason to do something this stupid.
I feel like after 2025 it was going to be a 2 year rebuild. Summer of 2027 was always the goal. Boston was going to reset things financially and go from there. Maybe some cope here but PG if healthy should be able to contribute. It will be different ways than JB but he can be a positive.
I am listening to Kevin O'Connor's emergency podcast and he is reading fans emails / tweets / messages. One of them said - I think Philly will be too much "your turn, my turn". I agree. (1) Edgecombe was already lost in the mix most of the time when Embiid was healthy. It will be even tougher with Jaylen. (2) Embiid and Maxey managed each other well but that will be tougher again with Jaylen in the mix. Jaylen is a more aggressive score and less capable passer than James Harden was. Developing chemistry between their 3 scorers will be harder.
Philly have a nice mix in the uptempo game ... without Embiid. They already had an interesting uptempo game with Maxey and Edgecombe but the team was only really a .500 ball club. They weren't great. Just average. Now you have Maxey + Edgecombe + Jaylen. You go from an average team without Embiid to a 50+ win team without Embiid. They will be a phenomenal running team with Jaylen and without Embiid. That trio will be electric in the open floor. It might be time for Philly to move on from Embiid. They now have a core that can win together without Embiid. They didn't last year. They were just a .500 team without Embiid. They are a 50+ win team now without Embiid. So it might be best to trade Embiid and forget about trying to win a title without Embiid. Instead trade him for whatever you can get (... if you can trade him) and retool around 3 perimeter players. Go for a Championship in a longer window around them.
So is Boston done this offseason? No other moves?
One cap note from Boston's side on today's blockbuster: Paul George's trade kicker will lift his salary to the 35-percent max of $57,736,350 for the coming year, unless he waives it.New York Times

I just hope Brad is playing the long game and this isn't ownership being dumb.
