I agree with what you are saying. I mean I have never ever talked about Trading JB! But, somehow this year just feels different. Like I don't think Brad would have made the package known if he hadn't already decided that it is time for a change.  I totally get people saying, No we don't have to Trade JB!! Of course I agree with that!!! But, like I said this year somehow feels different to me. I will probably be wrong again, I thought this trade would happen for the Celtics, I really did, so maybe my feelings are meaningless LOL

Again, you don't have to trade him. He has three years left on his deal. The Celtics have 4 tradeable first rounders (#27, 2027 1st, 2031 1st, 2033 1st) thefull MLE, a 27 million dollar TPE and some intriguing young guys. They have ways to get better and were already pretty good last year.

so to answer the question, I would think a move with Houston would be interesting. No Way I see them giving us both Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun!! I meant that is a better package than Giannas would have been!!! I Love Thompson and I could see a package revolving around him. I just don't think Houston would give him up, he seems untouchable.

Brown won a title in Boston with Rockets coach Ime Udoka and Houston had a rockier-than-expected first year with Kevin Durant in the fold. There are plenty of young pieces, most notably big man Alperin Sengun, that would likely interest the Celtics in a potential Brown deal.

The Trail Blazers have set themselves up to have the salary cap space to bring in Brown and there's a new owner who might want to make a splash. I still think this is the highest value he'll have and we should trade him. It could come crashing down next year, then we'll be forced to trade him. Better to get out in front of this now.

I'd love Amen Thompson, but a report just came out that HOU is listening to offers on everyone except Thompson, so I don't think he'll be on the table. Not sure I'd do it for Sengun and Smith Jr, but I'd consider it.

Sharpe, Grant, and MIL's picks is interesting. I know Sharpe and Grant aren't Jaylen, but MIL is looking to be horrible for at least the next 5 years. Unfortunately, horrible means worse odds than just mediocre, so this probably doesn't work for us the way it would have in years past.

If we could get Murphy, pieces, and multiple future picks, I'd be all over it. Murphy covers most of what Jaylen does, is younger, and I love the idea of having picks from the Pelicans.

Chicago and Atlanta don't really have anything that interests me, unless Jalen Johnson is on the table. And I definitely don't feel like he is.

I liked this idea by Celtics2021 from another thread where you combine two of these trade ideas.

* Trade Jaylen to ATL for Okongwu, #8, McCollum.
* Then trade the #8 pick (and pieces?) for Trey Murphy.

So it would be Jaylen for Trey Murphy, Okongwu, McCollum.

I liked it because we were swapping 1 scorer for 3 scorers. Jaylen a 25-30ppg scorer. Trey Murphy a 20ppg scorer, McCollum a 15-20ppg scorer, Okongwu a 15ppg scorer. Now we would have 5 scorers alongside Tatum who can get 15-20ppg with Pritchard & D White being the other 2.

It also addressed the backup big man slot with Okongwu behind Queta. So our center rotation is fixed as well. Okongwu undersized as a big but mobile and versatile switch defender. Trey Murphy a high level defensive wing to replace Jaylen. McCollum the 3rd ball-handling guard to play alongside Pritchard & D White. So we can have 2 ball-handlers in the backcourt at all times. Plus there is still room for the young wings (or Hauser) for backup wing minutes.

I don't feel anyone is saying that things are dire, I mean we had a great season without our best player!! I am totally fine with rolling with the J's and building around them. But, what I think we all can agree on is there needs to be changes to win another title. There were changes when we won the Last title!! We added JH and KP, those were great moves and worked out. I just don't think those moves are available right now in free agency. So, JB is our best untouchable trade chip, that is why I don't think exploring options with him is a bad idea. If you don't get a great package back, roll with the Js Baby!!!!

I'd trade Brown to Houston for a package highlighted by:

Sengun
2027 1st (Best of Phoenix, Brooklyn, Houston)
2029 1st (Best of Phoenix, Dallas, Houston)

Other players and machinations would be needed to make this work under the cap rules. 

But Sengun and what looks like a pretty good couple of draft picks-- better than four late 20s picks-- would be enticing.

You are correct! I usually read when things get interesting, like this last couple weeks, Plus today can still be interesting with draft! Probably Not!! but who knows!
