I hope you folks are right. I don't see anything worth trading Brown for now that Giannis is off the table. I guess the good part is that Brown is under contract for 3 more seasons. He doesn't have the threat to walk for nothing.

Maybe he takes yet another step to get better.

I don't think trading him away for 75 cents on the dollar is the right move at this point.

Goodness Miami paid alot. The unprotected firsts when Giannis is 35 and 37 could be pretty good.

Wow, ESPN is unloading on the Celtics as the biggest loser in the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to Miami.

Basically saying we would have had the best 1-2 punch in the NBA and would have addressed our biggest weaknesses if we had acquired him instead of Miami.
Without Giannis, ESPN says we are left with the same roster issues that led to the early playoff exit with no clear path to a strong upgrade back to serious title contention.
If all that is not enough, they added the additional possibility of an unhappy Jaylen Brown to deal with going forward.

I can agree with many of their points, but if our deal was not going to include Bobby Portis and was going to require the young players and additional draft picks that the Bucks were reportedly demanding from us, there is no way I would have given away that much to complete the deal.

I don?t really like listening too much to the media because it?s often just a lot of hype to farm clicks, but I think they?re right to an extent and is probably what many of the people who voted for Giannis were thinking:

1) I do think Tatum-Giannis would?ve been the best duo in the NBA
2) Giannis would?ve addressed our issues, especially in strengthening our inside game (which Brad also mentioned in his season-end presser)
3) My confidence isn?t high on this roster. I don?t think we?re first round fodder but it does look like this team (as currently constructed) hasn?t created any meaningful separation from other teams. The path back to the finals probably hinges mostly on health aka if other teams are injured and we aren?t.

But yeah, the Heat deal was way too rich. I don?t think Giannis would?ve been worth 4 future 1st rounders or something.

I hope Brad has more tricks up his sleeve. The offseason is long and full of possibilities.

First, Haslen ruins the Browns, now he ruins the Bucks and Celtics at the same time
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I do not see Brown being traded. There just is not going to be anything out there to move him for. Expecting Brown to be moved and to bring in a haul is just not something that happens.

So that leaves Brad limited tools to add to this roster to make it viable.

One thing is for sure...Baylor and Hugo have to take massive steps next season.

I don't have a lot of excitement about the season. Will be a mid pack team in the East and probably a first round exit in the playoffs. Do not see this team changing their style of play.

Miami gave up too much & glad Celtics didn?t. Miami be a play in team as of now cause that roster is depleted. Brad just need to try and trade White or Hauser
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Congrats to Heat and Bucks. Cs should be ready to pivot. The big man search should continue but it may be even harder price wise now. C's may have been better off letting Heat pay a cheaper price. Wonder if Bucks do a solid for pushing up price and give us Turner for TPE and a first.

If what I was hearing, Brown, Hugo, and two firsts was the ask, SEEYA!

Brown and Giannis are too close in talent, just their games are different.  Brown and a first should have been enough to get this done!

Shams said Bucks also asked for Baylor, more first round picks and multiple pick swaps. I have no issue with Brad not doing that and driving up what the Heat had to pay.

With that said...this was a total miss by Brad. He has to mend fences with Brown and now try to improve the roster with limited resources. Just not a lot of optimism.

It's probably because the Bucks didn't have a need for Brown. They're not planning to content, they're rebuilding, they don't need a guy that finished 6th in MVP voting with a salary the same as Giannis but for 3 more years. They would have had to find a third team to ship Brown to and maybe they didn't like that that third team had to offer. And if it's true that they wanted multiple pick swaps and first rounders, no thanks. That's how teams get in trouble, mortgaging their future for a big swing at the present.

Why are people acting like the Heat deal was so enormous? It was literally the rumored package plus Jakuckonis.

What Milwaukee was asking for from us was enormous, but that?s mostly because they apparently valued Jaylen and Herro very similarly.

That is my biggest concern moving forward. If we do keep Jaylen, we absolutely cannot give him that extension. He is already overpaid and that will be compounded by making him a $70M/yr player.

Looks like last year really was a waste. Winning 56 games, getting #27 in the draft, and losing in the 1st round. At least if we were able to sell high on Jaylen and buy low on Giannis, it would have all been worth it.

Agree. This team feels totally handcuffed now. They are being forced to pretty much run it back after overachieving last season with a roster that just is not very good with a terrible play style and a coach that doesn't seem to know what to do.

This team has so many holes and so little assets to fix them that it just doesn't feel like Brad can fill them with quality.

Bucks get all the Heats picks is the gamble here. One injury to either Bam or Giannis and it's a lottery pick that year.

The real winner is Portland because those Bucks picks are going to be very high in the draft. Bucks are going to be horrendous.

[dang] you Riley. They basically gave away 4 1st round draft picks and multiple first round players they picked.

Biggest winners are NOP and Portland who can swap or use Bucks first pick over the next few years. Bucks are going to be awful.

I hope Brown stays cause there zero players beyond Giannis that makes sense now. How do we get a big now?

Hey, how do we get those Bucks picks Portland owns? Or the NOP one?

Those Bucks' picks are probably less valuable now.  Milwaukee has a good shot of being a bottom-three team over the next few years, which would only give them two ping-pong balls for the lottery, as opposed to three.
