Kyle Kuzma a few minutes ago...

The Giannis trade is getting close.

Interesting.  How do people feel if BOS ends up taking on Kuzma as part of a deal for Giannis?

Well Kuzma is one of those no-conscience scorers who can put it in the basket entirely on his own.  Sometimes those guys are crucial for end of game scenarios.

As for his defense, passing, offense-creating... he's meh.

Kuzma is on an expiring. He could be a nice piece off the bench for this team. I tend to think he will be in a culture that he can be rehabbed in. Cs certainly do not have anyone like him on the bench.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I wouldn't be super-angry if we traded Hauser for Kuzma, but that would only leave a few million for us to spend on another player before hitting the tax. I'd think taking on Kuzma would be a favor, thus lessening what we need to send out

Definitely true.  Kuzma is negative value, so he should reduce what is sent in addition to JB if he is included.  He makes the deal much worse.

Good trade asset at the deadline. His deal + future picks + cap filler. You could bring back a very good player at midseason.

Main issue with Kuzma is that he played poorly with Giannis.

I'd rather have JB as a pairing for Kuzma than Giannis. Giannis needs shooters around him. And Giannis & Kuz did not work well together as big men in a small ball lineup. So they generally needed another big man alongside them. Further stressing the combined lack of available shooting.

Trae Young just re-signed with the Wizards for 4/212, with a PLAYER option.

That's INSANE.

Insane but incredibly predictable for the middest of NBA franchises.

no where close to his actual max though.   He has also been the best player on a conference field also team before the Hawks made a bunch of stupid trades and moves.

Sorta?  It is reportedly equivalent to the max he could have received from a team without his Bird rights (so any team but Washington).  I have not done the math but it is certainly in the ballpark to that.  It is essentially a market rate max deal, before he tested the market.

The Wizards and Young?s representatives, CAA?s Co-Head of Basketball Aaron Mintz, agents Ray Young, Andrew Morrison and Co-Head of Basketball Austin Brown, land on a deal that will be less than the maximum for Young with Washington, but equal to the max he could have signed elsewhere.

Ya, but he hasn't been that for a couple years. He's simply not worth anywhere near 53 million a year. Its an insane overpay for what he's actually been the last few years.

I remember when Jaylen signed the 5/300M deal back in 2023, there was so much pandemonium about how ridiculous that was. And say what you will, but he's actually looked more than worth it especially when you just consider the 2024 season and playoff run. Meanwhile some of these guys are also making a ton while accomplishing nothing and basically stagnating. Fox is on a 4/220M deal. Young just signed 4/212M. Reaves is likely getting 5/240M. Insanity.
