One thing I completely disagree with: The idea that if the Celtics miss out on Giannis its over with Jaylen.

I'm sorry, I don't buy that. He's said multiple times he loves it in Boston. He can win here. If the C's miss out on Giannis and just pivot to offering him a 2 year extension I think he could very easily come back next year. This isn't a make or break thing for the C's.

It doesn't have to be, but it also gives a guy who was very clear that last year was his favorite year ever because he was "the man" a pretext to move on.

Except he was "very clear" that the reason it was his favorite year was because of all the youngsters stepping up. He literally said that twice. Give me the quote when he said it was his "favorite year ever because he was 'the man.'" Why are people still putting words in his mouth that he never said?

I mean, he said that after the backlash from his comments. Also, do you really believe it was his favorite season ever because the youngsters stepped up? Sorry, JB. Not buying that.

And, as the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes reaches its final stretch, the Celtics star winger stressed that he?s using all this trade chatter as motivation.

​Somewhat grateful, because I get to see some negativity that I didn?t want. But that just gives more fuel to the fire, Brown said on his Twitch stream on Sunday while training with Olympic sprinter Noah Lyles. I see some comments, or takes, that I didn?t even care to see, but it just gives me more fuel to the fire.

Among things I could care about regarding JB this the least relevant. If it was his favorite year, it was his favorite year. He felt great about this season and I don?t blame him for it or hate his honesty. These are guys (the Jays for example) in their 20s who have been millionaires since they turned 20 and have been fawned over their entire lives. Is it really that shocking that self-worth is defined by their personal achievements?  JB works hard every off season and appears to do the same every in-season. I don?t know that anything more should be expected. I get that it would be great if he said all the rights things all the time, but that?s not what JB does. But he works hard and stays in great shape and this past year I believe he provided leadership and mentorship to younger players.  And tbh I think that?s something I hope he?d be proud of.  And if he loved this year because he got to be *the man* I just don?t see why it?s a huge problem that he felt that way.

Yeah, I think that JB's satisfaction about Jordan Walsh playing well was probably outweighed a bit by the media talking about him as an MVP candidate.

I just do not think they take the Celtics offer. Brown stays put. Brad has to fix the relationship.

They draft at 27 and try to add a center and combo guard somehow.

I'm pretty sure he's still going to be saying that we aren't trading Brown even if Giannis is holding up the championship trophy in a Celtics jersey next year. Celticinorlando has been extremely consistent in thinking the Celtics are going to do nothing this offseason

To be fair I feel the same way and have predicted the same thing as Celticinorlando on the prediction thread that was here recently.

I'd rather keep Jaylen and just build with the Jays. Giannis feels risky for multiple reasons. His calf feels like a ticking time bomb similar to Tatum and Durant in the past. Also his game relies so much on athleticism and he?s gonna be 32, so there?s a chance he regresses sooner rather than later. And Myles Turner even said some stuff in his podcast that implied Giannis acts privileged and seemed to check out in recent years such as showing up late to team meetings and planes, not caring, etc. May have contributed to the drama in the Bucks the last few seasons along with Doc Rivers. Giannis won a championship and multiple MVPs and seemed to lose that extra desire.

They can seriously add to Jaylen and Tatum again after 2027 when they reset the repeater tax after this season similar to adding KP + Jrue in 2024. Meanwhile, they can add two players with the MLE and TPE this season, and probably trade Hauser away to open up another 10M. Pretty sure orlando is saying the same

I saw Bobby Portis do a tv segment where he addressed this. He said it is true that Giannis is late for things but it no different than other stars around the league. It is within the realm of normal for star player behaviour.

Portis said Giannis does get treated differently but stars always get treated differently in the NBA. It wasn't an issue.

Portis also said M Turner embellished how late Giannis was. It is regular for Giannis to be late but not egregiously late. Portis said M Turner said something like 2hrs late. Nothing like that happened. Maybe 20-30min late.

So not good behaviour but not a major issue either.

I am ready to move on. So Jaylen Brown must've been the elephant in the room all this time causing all these lazy basketball mentality and turnover prone handles. We got rid of Kyrie/Hayward/Kemba. Got rid of Smart/Williams. Repurposed Brad Stevens and Ime Udoka. What was left was Jayson and Jaylen.

After Jaylen's been dealt, then the team can consider nailing Joe.

My wishlist may be complete

Jayson can be 20-30 minutes late I'm perfectly fine with that. But guys like Pritchard, Derrick White, Hugo...they better bet their A they get to practice on time.

Giannis, Murphy, Tatum, PP, Queta and probably an MLE addition would actually be awesome. But we'll see, first lets get through this night
