Whoa. Who will give him a max deal?

Wizards star Trae Young plans to decline his $48.97 million player option for the 2026?27 season to become a FA on Monday, sources. Washington remains the front runner for the four-time NBA All-Star as he loves the team and DC, but he still expects multiple team max interest.

Max interest could mean he is the top target for multiple teams (they have maximum interest) rather than they are interested in giving him the maximum.  Especially likely given it is agent-speak.

Yeah no thanks. I'm not doing another version of waiting for AJ Brown for extended weeks/months now.

Didn?t the Bucks owner say he wanted this revolved by the Draft, which is on Tuesday.

Yes. There have been reports that they are wavering on that though. That they don't have the trade offer they want yet and might extend this into July.

So they may keep that previous deadline or they may not.

Fans may be split on whether trading Brown for Antetokounmpo is actually the right move, but former Celtics forward Marcus Morris thinks it is the right move.

"I think Jaylen Brown needs his own team," Morris said on "First Take" on Thursday. "I think it's about time. I love the combination of him and Jayson Tatum. I was there. I watched him grow up. I played two years with him. I think it's time that Jaylen Brown goes and gets his own team, and establishes himself as a superstar and gets to the role that he wants to be in. I think this is a great trade for both teams because Giannis and Tatum are complementary of each other."

Obvious the Bucks don't want the Heat offer. If they did this would be over a long time ago.

I?m definitely on board with the trade ideas I?ve seen that land Giannis for Brown.  I don?t have a strong feeling one way the other as to the likelihood of it happening. Feels a bit less than 50-50. Of course my *feels* are also less than 50-50 (far less).

Right now I'm still predicting he ends up in Miami. I feel like the last 24 hours have been very quiet, not just "we don't know what's going on" but even the momentum/rumors/tweets have gone silent and there's been some new reporting sounding like it's pouring water on Giannis to Boston and also indicating Jaylen is here to stay.

I pay attention to the betting sites too, Boston has stayed stagnant over the past 36 hours in the odds while Miami has increased a bit.

It?s always darkest before the dawn. When it comes to Brad Stevens, it?s always quietest before the trade.

It?s when we start to hear fewer rumors and chatter that I get more confident something is about to happen.

It's usually when you least expect it, that's when they (Brad) gets us!

Keeps Brown, drafts 27th and tries to sign some fringe depth. This team is going to look much like it did last season.

I know what he said after the season but that was in the moment. Now it will be the whole this team is really good when whole.

Will be fun to watch Brown pout because his name was floated in trade rumors all summer.

The Timberwolves are showing strong interest in Derrick White, per
@sam_amick

?The Blazers have been among the suitors for Antetokounmpo since the February trade deadline but appear to be on the outside looking in at the moment. Similarly, league sources say the Minnesota Timberwolves ? whose Antetokounmpo pursuit also appears to have cooled ? have strong interest in the Celtics? Derrick White.?

Let's say Giannis was not even in the picture and the Celtics were just trying to trade Jaylen Brown.

I would imagine we could get at least what the Grizzlies got for Bane, if not a little more.  Bane turns 28 in a week.  Brown turns 30 in October.

The Bane trade was not a "Win Now" or even "Win Soon" scenario for Memphis.  It was a "Rebuild Mode" trade.

And while there are four draft picks, not one of them will most likely be any better than #16 in any of these upcoming drafts.

I would imagine Portland would offer a better deal for Jaylen than this (if Portland would even be interested)...

The trade package sent to Memphis included:

Players: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony.
Draft Capital: Four first-round picks (2025, 2026, 2028, and 2030) and a 2029 first-round pick swap

2025 First-Round Pick: The No. 16 overall selection in the 2025 NBA Draft (which became Chinese prospect Yang Hansen).
2026 First-Round Pick: An unprotected selection originally belonging to the Phoenix Suns (carrying conditional swap rights involving the Washington Wizards).
2028 First-Round Pick: Orlando's own unprotected first-rounder.
2030 First-Round Pick: Orlando's own unprotected first-rounder.
2029 First-Round Pick Swap: A pick swap option controlled by Memphis that is top-two protected.

If I'm Portland, would I consider trading any of the following picks, plus a player for Jaylen?  With the new lottery format, MIL could finish in the bottom three any of these years and have a WORSE chance at a top pick.

2027: Swap rights for MIL's pick
2028: MIL or POR pick
2029: Best of MIL/WAS/BOS
2030: Swap rights for MIL's pick

If I'm Portland, I'd offer...

2027: Best of MIL/POR
2028: Best of MIL/POR

And Grant.  But not Scoot.  Those two picks in 2027/2028 are valuable enough for Jaylen.

And I would probably put a "Top 1" or "Top 1-2" protection on at least one of those picks.  Portland has so many you could structure it to convey to a following year with no protection (if Portland got a #1 or #2 pick in 2027 or 2028).

Given how his production declined miserably the past season I'd pull the trigger with Minnesota
