Jordan Hicks salary dumped to the White Sox.

In addition to savings some $, I think the real benefit of this trade is that it clears two spots on their 40-man roster.  Anyways, I didn't see Hicks playing this season.

We also traded our #11 prospect.

The Devers trade is the gift that keeps on giving.

I agree...although we did receive a pitching prospect and a player to be named later.  Again, I think this was more about opening spots on the 40-man roster.

Eugenio Saurez only got 1 year, $15 million.  I would have been happy paying him that.

The Devers trade gave the Sox two things, a stable clubhouse as he was becoming a cancer for not being a team player and more importantly, Kyle Harrison.  He was the big return chip in that trade as he was the #23 prospect in MLB and the #1 prospect for the Giants in 2024.

I'm definitely in the minority here, but this is the fielding/batting lineup I'd go with to start:

C:  Narvaez
1B:  Contreras
2B:  Campbell
SS:  Story
3B:  Mayer
LF:  Anthony
CF:  Rafaela
RF:  Abreu
DH:  Duran

We've been waiting for these young prospects, it's time!

I need more time looking at their pitchers, but for sure, they upgraded the starters!

I've got no problem with the starters, although I don't think we'll ever see anything that even approaches "good" pitching from Harrison.  I'm not sure that we can win without having any ++ power in the lineup at all.

This is essentially the same lineup we ended with.  Contreras replaced the stats of Bregman.  https://www.sports-reference.com/stathead/tiny/Dnqq5

We need a healthy full year of Mayer, Anthony and for Campbell to have it figured out.

I don't think last year's offense is sustainable without HR power in the lineup.

The Sox had won 8 out of 10 when they traded him. Devers was playing well at that time. Can we stop with this narrative that he was a holding the team back, since he wasn?t. John Henry really knows how to spin things to the fan base.  :P

There goes big prize Kyle Harrison:

Quote
The Boston Red Sox are acquiring third baseman Caleb Durbin in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Monday.

Left-hander Kyle Harrison is headlining the three-player package headed back to Milwaukee that also includes infielder David Hamilton and left-hander Shane Drohan.

I think I like the trade, but going from Devers to Bergman to this... seems like losing out.

I've never heard of Durbin tbh so idk what to make of the trade lol

But yeah, now Jose Bello is the only guy remaining from the Devers trade. Just a god awful trade (and for salary dumping reasons for ownership to pocket, that's it)

He was 3rd in Rookie of the Year voting, for whatever that's worth.

Whoa! That seems a bit promising.

Brewer fan here.  Sox got the better end of this deal.  Not happy about it.   The kid should be very solid for the Sox while the Brewers continue to pinch pennies by sending out talent they'd have to pay for minor leaguers that may become decent  (until such time as they need to get paid and thus another trade)

Yeah, I was touting Harrison as the big piece in the Devers deal, if they used that to get Durbin, a RH power bat, kudos.

New projected lineup:

C:  Narvaez
1B:  Contreras
2B:  Mayer
SS:  Story
3B:  Durbin
LF:  Anthony
CF:  Rafaela
RF:  Abreu
DH:  Duran

WS here we come!

I haven't heard Durbin described as a power bet.  Where have you seen that?
