He makes too much for this team and doesn't play enough defense.
Hopefully another team that wants to trade him need a third team to help make it work and the Celtics find a way to peal off another big man the can strengthen that part of the rotation going forward.
Idk - you look around the league at some of the impactful bigs the Celtics could realistically acquire and the pickings are slim.
Nicolas Claxton
Daniel Gafford
Naz Reid
Nikola Vucevic
None of those guys move the needle much for this team, especially with what wed have to give up to get them.
I almost put Jaren Jackson on the list but that seems a tad unrealistic - also doesnt help our rebounding problem haha.
I think Sabonis would be the best option.
Claxton would be intriguing. His FT numbers are also better this season, he's not the same "brick" from the FT line like 3 years ago which the C's exploited.
Simons + Baylor + 1 future first round pick + two second rounders for Nic Claxton. He's owed another 2/43M after this season which to me is more than reasonable and not "gutting the payroll" long term. Nets obviously will sell
I really like the idea of a Claxton trade.
Simons, Hauser, Queta & multiple second round picks would hopefully get it done. What is great about this trade is it puts the Celtics under the luxury tax too.
Not sure it would happen though, mainly because of Mazzulla & his pertinacity for shooting.
