Williams was out and even when he played he was clearly not right.  Can't put much stock in them losing without their 2nd best player.

Curious if the same logic is applied last year to the Celtics with their injuries to Zinger, Brown, and then Tatum, and this year to Tatum,

You forgot Jrue also missed time and was limited in the playoffs too.

And Aaron Gordon , Middleton ect. We can go on an on an on about injuries until the cows come home. It?s a pointless exercise.  It is what it is. Part of the game.

If Timelord didn't get injured in 2022 or if Ja Morant was healthy, Warriors would've lost to Grizzlies. Celtics win 2022!

It appears Castle has Brunson's utmost respect and attention before the teams' series begins Wednesday.

"He's great. I think his intensity and tenacity is special," Brunson said during media day at San Antonio's Frost Bank Center on Tuesday. "He plays with a chip on his shoulder. He's had that since I've seen him at UConn. The way he's played over these first couple years of his career, he's going to be a great player, great defender."

Brunson is still averaging 27 points and 6.6 assists in 14 playoff games. Castle has had success against Brunson in a limited sample size. Per genius IQ, Castle held Brunson to 3-of-11 shooting (27.3%) when matched up.

Cleveland's Dean Wade had similar regular-season numbers against Brunson, but it amounted to nothing when it counted. Castle just missed making the NBA All-Defensive team this season, the player who received the most votes without getting one of the 10 spots.

"I think what's worked for me is trying to be physical with him," Castle said. "He's obviously shorter than me, but he's a very physical guard, he gets to his spots well. Uses deception well, has great footwork.

NY had a nice start but they got nothing going on offense after that. No shot creation. Nothing from Brunson. 1-7 FGA. Now he has gotten a knock. Hopefully he is okay.

KAT had a few opportunistic drives. Other than that it is hard to see much shot creation from him when Wemby is shadowing him. His best moments other than that were attacking switches. Wemby getting up close on Towns beyond the 3 point line to deny him any sort of half look.

So without Towns being a major shot creation, more pressure falls on Brunson. They need him to step up and be their half court offense. M Bridges and Anunobdy won't do it.

So their 27pts have come on 9-11 FGA 3-3 FTA 0 turnovers. 12 possessions = 27 points. Plus 12 rebounds combined as well. 12 of the team's 21 rebounds. So they have more than 1/2 the boards in addition to 1/2 the points.

This must be what it was like to play against Bill Russell's Celtics. He would anchor the defense, create extra possessions and facilitate the offense. The scoring come from anywhere. Stars, other starters, bench players. You would never know exactly where. Then Bill would chip in with some of his scoring & passing. Just steadily anchoring the team and putting his teammates in a position to succeed.

Wemby doing the same thing. He is not driving San Antonio's offense. He is a cog in the offense. Not the engine. Like B Russell. But Wemby, like Russell, is the engine on defense.
