This is why we should have beaten GSW a few years ago, these chances don't come around all the time.

Yup. And not fallen behind Miami 3-0.

Assuming he sits all of next year, that gives him about 17 months to be ready for opening night of the 2026-27 season.

Yep. this is exactly what needs to happen.

Pretty sure they tried to win that series and were beat by the better team with a generational all time talent that went god mode in the must win games so not sure the entitlement to saying we ?should?ve? won that series as if we just gave it to the warriors out of the kindness of our hearts

They should have thought of this before losing.

A tear is less severe than a rupture, right?  There is some good news here.

+100. This is why they should blow it up.  The team is not good enough without tatum to win it all.  They need to get their cap in order to rebuild.  Al is gone, Jrue gone, zinger gone, Hauser gone.  Get picks, trade up this year and go for it in 26/27.

I?m up for some smart changes. They?ve got a number of good young teams who?ll be in their prime when he returns.  Lots for Brad to consider.

Btw, if Cs weren?t down 3-1 (let?s say 2-2), would JB, DW, Jrue, PP, and Al with Luke, Sam (maybe Baylor), and diminished KP be enough to beat the Knicks?   Tomorrow?s game is pretty stress free but if they win, I have to say Game 6 becomes relevant.  Getting past NY, however unlikely and ultimately leading to nowhere, would be fun.

Will hope for the best. Kobe was able to come back after 8 months. You never know!

Kobe Bryant recovered from his Achilles tendon rupture in about eight months, returning to the court in December 2013, following his injury in April 2013. His initial surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, known for his aggressive and quicker recovery methods, which may have contributed to his relatively swift return.

Recovery Timeline:
April 2013: Bryant suffered the tear and underwent surgery.
August 2013: Bryant was already running on an anti-gravity treadmill.
September 2013: He returned to the practice court for light drills.
November 2013: He received full medical clearance to resume basketball activities.
December 2013: Bryant returned to game action

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

He was never the same player, though.  I'd just give it time with no rush to return next season.

Yeah, not sure that is the ideal roadmap.

Kobe was a net negative for his team from that point forward. He couldn't defend anybody anymore. His scoring efficiency was among the worst in the league. He was hurting his team on both ends of the court. They were better off without him.

He should have retired. He was kaput.

Chauncey Billups was another older player who had an achilles injury. He was 35 years old. Still an above average starting guard. Got hurt. Never the same. He was effectively a 3rd stringer to out of the NBA after that injury.

And this is why people shouldn?t diminish our championship last year. It?s very hard to go through a season unscathed. It?s also very hard to repeat. Injuries are part of the game. Now are people gonna say that whoever comes out of the east will have an easy path because the Cavs and the Celtics had significant injuries?

If it was 2-2, I would think the Celtics still have a shot at winning the series. I would consider NY the favourite but Boston would have a chance. A decent chance. They would be an underdog but a dangerous one.

At 3-1, I can't see it. Not with the way Jaylen & Porzingis are playing. Too tough to win 3 straight against a good (but not great) New York team.
