How about Jrue and Hauser and 2 future seconds to Sacramento for DeRozan and filler? Maybe a 3rd team is included to facilitate the move.
Sacramento is gonna need to try something else as well, and maybe they'll be fine adding Jrue for his defense on the team which is a big area they struggle in. Hauser gives them another perimeter weapon.
DeRozan is older than Jrue!
Doesn't he make like 9M less than Jrue though?
Idk I'm just trying to think of ideas. I wanted Aldama from Memphis in a trade but I just realized Aldama is a FA this offseason anyways...
I think the two teams who will go after Jrue are the Grizzlies and Rockets. Maybe the Magic if they decide to move on from KCP or just want another defensive-minded guard/veteran. Outside of that I can't think of other teams really. Detroit? Idk
The thing with Jrue is he would be a great fit on so many teams, even rebuilding ones honestly. I see Orlando and Detroit as the best fit, but any playoff team that can cobble together $26M in contracts would be happy to have him.
I do hope he his shot comes around and he has a solid playoffs. That?s really going to matter in terms of his value, but he still looks like himself running around out there
Agreed. I think Jrue is a lot more capable than playing on the Celts allows him to be. He certainly not just a "defensive-minded veteran guard".
Would he get three years, $104 million on the open market? (He's got his age 35 through 37 seasons to come.)
That's the question that will determine whether he has positive, neutral or negative value.
Tbh, Brad probably made a mistake in giving such a massive contract to Jrue. I think he just got caught up in all of the extension craze after winning a Title.
But very few teams have cap space, so the answer is definitely no. There are plenty of teams who would like to have him on their roster and could likely put together lesser contracts to get him. How Brad handles trading those contracts is what really matters. If he gets nothing for Jrue except those contracts and then is giving away 1sts in order to get off of those contracts, then that will be a disaster.
I'm glad he had one very good year/great playoff run. There's still time left, but I think most people are right to be disappointed with how this year has gone. His corner 3pt shooting basically cut in half from last season and his defense, while still very good, isn't quite as elite as it was. Hopefully he's just coasting a bit and will be ready to turn it on when it matters. We know he won't be a high scorer, but we need his defense and shooting efficiency to be top tier.
