Shams Charania: The Toronto Raptors are trading Davion Mitchell to the Miami Heat for PJ Tucker, a second-round pick and cash, sources tell ESPN

Raptors are in "random shuffle" mode

I assume it was for the pick in taking the difference between Tucker?s and Mitchell?s salaries.

Looks like the Cavs are chasing after DeAndre Hunter. That would be a scary line up if they get him. I hope Atlanta gets a better offer elsewhere, if they really are trying to move him.

NGL that would be a scary addition if they do it

The Raptors gave New Orleans a 1st round pick. That pick was the 2026 1st rounder from Indiana.

Myles Turner is a FA at the end of this season. Indiana is reluctant to pay him $30+mil per year. It will be interesting to watch that. Indiana could drop in the standings without him.

We can't match salaries under the current collective bargaining rules.

For the Cavs, they could just send Caris Lavert and Tristan Thompson, both expiring contracts.

Wizards waive Sidy Cissoko.

I would be interested to bring him here. Have a look at him between now and the end of season. See if he is worth investing some time in. Good size & athleticism. Put up big numbers in G-League.

He could be a good prospect for the end of the bench.

One knock on Williams early in his career has been availability. He has played in 84 out of a possible 212 games through his first two and a half seasons with the Hornets (39.6%).

I am happy someone did the math.

That was from an ESPN article.

A youtube video by Athletic writer Jovan Boha had two interesting defensive stats:

(1) Charlotte is / was -6.6 points per 100 possessions worse with Mark Williams on the floor defensively. That is the worst mark of any rotation regular on the Charlotte team.

(2) Mark Williams allows 68.2% dFG% at the rim. AD was in the high 50s. Jaxson Hayes was 58%.

Edit: Jokic was getting criticized recently for his dFG% of 69.5% at the rim which was the 2nd worst in the league among players who defend 5 or more shots at the rim per game (Towns was #1). So Mark Williams's dFG% is among the worst figures in the league.

Edit: Actually, those Jokic nmbers were from 5-6 weeks ago. They have improved a lot since then. Down to 63.2%. Towns 66.3%. Mark Williams 67.6%. This accoding to NBA.com on shots within 6 feet of the basket. Mark Williams appears to the be the highest (worst) in the league among centers. Y Missi is at 65.8%. Vucevic 64%. Towns still 2nd worst. Sarr 63.1%.

Boha also mentioned comments previously made in this thread about Mark Williams defense. High stance, doesn't bend his knees well, beat off the dribble easily. Gets pushed around in the post defensively. AD scored 21pts in Q1 against Charlotte with most of them against Mark Williams. AD hit jumpers, beat Mark off the dribble, and powered through Williams in the paint.

Also mentioned Mark Williams has a history of ankle, feet and back injuries.

I'm old enough to remember when people were insisting Ingram was better than JB on these boards.

(that wasn't that long ago)

That was the consensus at draft time.  Only epic Celtics haters continued that position into the last two years, though.  Haha.

Lots of folks were disappointed that we couldn't get Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram in 2016.

I was on the Buddy Hield train tho if I recalled lol

Darnell Mayberry: Year two of Lonzo Ball?s two-year extension is a team option, team sources tell @TheAthletic

So one year guaranteed, 2nd year team option. So they can get out of the deal if Lonzo's body breaks down again. Good risk for Chicago.

What was it 2yrs $20mil. So just under the MLE.

The Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat had advanced talks on a trade that would have sent Kevin Durant to the Warriors with Jimmy Butler going to the Suns. The general parameters of the deal were put into place, but the Warriors decided not to move forward with the trade once it became clear that Durant did not have interest in returning to the franchise he left as a free agent in 2019.

"This can be qualified I think as a genuine what if," said Brian Windhorst on Get Up on Thursday morning. "Because there was a trade, sort of, in place between Golden State, Phoenix and Miami that would have returned Kevin Durant to Golden State. But Durant stepped up and made it known he did not want a reunion. And once that that deal fell apart, then Golden State pivoted and tried to get Jimmy Butler."

Stephen Curry and Durant spoke at some point this week and it became clear to Curry that the Warriors had underestimated Durant's coldness toward returning to the franchise where he won two NBA championships.

Quote
"It is amazing to think that this was close to being Jimmy Butler in Phoenix Kevin Durant in Golden State," added Windhorst.

Wow
