What's hilarious is I don't even think AD/Kyrie are gonna remain in DAL beyond 2026. Kyrie may miss a good chunk of next season anyways but if things continue to look bad, he's not sticking around. Neither are Klay and AD. Trading away Luka alone might have just porked that entire franchise not just in terms of revenue/fan interest, but the organization could quickly become very irrelevant. Doubt many players will be willing to sign up to play with the organization either with their clueless ownership group and GM

They'll just move the team to somewhere like Vegas and build a casino in Dallas. That what the owner wanted I hear. They don't care about basketball

What I have seen is that they are interested in a casino in Texas. That they are lobbying to get the law changed and stand a good chance of doing so. That is why the purchased the Dallas Mavericks. To gain more political access / standing.

Luka trade was the worst thing that's happened to Dallas. The second worse thing that happened/happen to Dallas is Jerry Jones 🤣

Agreed. Did you see the Dallas Stars blow a 3 goal lead w/59 seconds left in regulation. Crazy!

I think Nico is being scapegoated to some extent, since the owners are the ones ultimately calling the shots. It?s also Cubans fault for selling to them.

If I were a Mavs fan I'd be really ticked seeing Cuban still in the stadium and also making appearances on podcasts acting like "it wasn't his call". To me that would feel like "adding fuel to the fire". Like imagine if the new ownership here trades Tatum, and then Wyc is just hanging around the arena and going around being like "hey I didn't do it". I would start to really sour on and get sick of Wyc then (in addition to new ownership, but also Wyc)

unless something comes out where the trade was initiated by the new owners and Nico was just following orders, he's no scapegoat.  Owners had to sign off on it so they're culpable as well but Nico should be fired for not opening up the bidding process to get a much better haul for Luka than he got for gifting him to the Lakers for a pittance of what he was worth.

I don't fault Cuban for it.  no doubt the buyers told him everything he wanted to hear but in the end, they now own it and can do as they see fit.  Wyc's in a similar situation with the recent sale of the C's.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Until/unless the Lakers get ousted in the playoffs, I am going to be in a panicked and distraught state. I can't believe they managed to get Luka for cents on the dollar. I know people will say they have no chance at a Title, but I'll believe it when I see it. And that also doesn't change the fact that they now have Luka for the next decade.
