LOL, I had to Google who that was.

The Pats just signed Carlton Davis too. Another Google search.

I like these moves. Our defense looks respectable now. Davis isn't the alpha corner, but he should be great opposite Gonzalez. Also it never hurts to have a tackling machine behind our line. Now we need to grab a serviceable tackle so we aren't forced to reach on one at 4 if we don't love him.

Edit: I hope the signing of Moses doesn't take us out of the hunt for Armand Membou in the draft. I kind of like him the most now out of the tackle prospects, but he and Moses both are RTs.

I'm not minding this approach at all.  Mid-tier.  You don't need the flash.

These signings strike me as maybe not flashy, but solid. When you're as bad as the Patriots were lats year "solid" is a big upgrade.

They still need a WR #1.

Do you guys agree with the strategy to beef up the defense as a priority?  Are the Pats going to have money or draft capital to upgrade the OL and sign a receiver or two?

Milton Williams is great.  $26 million AAV for a DT is insane to me, but the market goes up and up.

I think addressing the front 7 & secondary goes a lot further to improving this team than blowing a crapload of money on a WR1. You can have prime Jerry Rice & if you have a sieve of a defense, you're not going anywhere.

Blowing a ton of money on a WR1 isn't necessarily the key to turning this thing around.

Milton Williams feasted against single blocks last year for Philly. Playing off Carter was huge for him. If Barmore looks closer to his 2023 tape, it's a great move. If not, I worry how Williams will look as the primary interior threat.

Also I havent seen the exact numbers, but it looks like they have used about half of their roughly 150 million in space so far. They still have room to do some good things.

My expectations for the patriots in free agency are so low that I'm just glad they are doing something. No idea whether its the right approach, a good approach, or how good these guys are, but at least they are spending.

I agree with this completely.  Overpaying for a WR1, when the OL and the defense is subpar, is the wrong approach.  Also, you have to fill all the holes in the end.  You do what you can with FA.  That is only the first step.  If what you are able to do with FA signings if solidify the D, great.  Then you have the draft and trades to take care of the rest.

I would have loved to see them sign a vet OT.  I assume they tried.  It just doesn't always happen the way you want in FA.  The OL needs to be better, that is a huge need.  Once you have that, then go ahead and overpay for a top receiver if one becomes available.

Also keep in mind that this is a multi-season process.  You are not going to fix everything in one off season.  This seems to have Vrabel fingerprints on things.  Solid D is a priority.  I would think he would want a solid OL too.  It is only the first day of FA.

I think expectations are bordering on exceeded.  Good picks on the D-line and at corner.   IDK anything about Moses as a OT but hoping its a positive.  Obviously still need a Left Tackle and #1 WR (maybe a #2 WR also).  Obviously have the draft to work with.  Good first day!

I think their remaining needs are WR, LT, one safety, and maybe another LB/DL depending on Barmore's health. WR and LT are the two biggest needs for sure, but if they can just sign Robinson ASAP and fill LT that'd be massive, and put them in an awesome spot going forward the rest of the offseason.

Moses is a solid RT, and a fine stopgap option short-term. Him, Onwenu and Wallace can man the position and hopefully Wallace can grow into our long term RT. I'm still high on Wallace, he played a great RT all of college but the Pats tried to play him LT and he also suffered some injuries so it hurt his rookie season. Hopefully we're now done with the "play this guy out of position and pray it works" tactic.
