How do you explain Vrabel and McDaniels returning?  It would seem to me that they would know better than anyone what to expect from the Krafts, and yet they chose NE.  That tells me not to over-blow a player poll.

I?m going to go with,,,$$$

Both guys were unemployed last year.

Yeah and I also assume Vrabel has more control than we think in terms of roster. He even said that too yesterday. McDaniels didn't have a choice lol, no one will hire him besides NE.

This offseason is still going to be the ultimate test. Will the Krafts pay up, or no? If not, the entire region will call for their heads. This isn't some "1 or 2 year" thing, it's been happening since Brady left. 2021 was the outlier with the insane FA spending, that's it.

Btw, one part of the survey asks about "owner's + organization's commitment to winning". The Pats ranked 30 out of 32 in that part. Think about that, the players are basically saying they don't think the Krafts and organization are doing enough to try and win now. I'm sure the quick Mayo hiring, poor transactions by Eliot Wolf, etc. contributed to that ranking.

Tests today revealed that potential No. 1 pick Abdul Carter has a stress reaction in his right foot and the Penn State standout will need to decide soon whether to have surgery, sources told ESPN.

?There are mixed opinions on whether he needs surgery, and we will figure that out in the near future,? Carter?s agent, Drew Rosenhaus said Wednesdasy night in Indianapolis, site of the NFL?s annual scouting combine.

Could he fall to the Pats now?

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Bad thing in that he might have surgery and we pick him and don't play him for the first year lol or he gets passed down so much the other teams in front may take what we already may have in mind

My assumption is that the patriots were far from the only team that would have hired either, and I have pretty strong doubts that the pats paid more than other teams would have offered.  I think they both wanted to come here.  None of us really know what?s in other peoples heads, but if the Krafts had been bad to Vrabel or Vrabel knew the Krafts to be deceitful or unwilling to spend or pains in the butt to work for, he probably would have chosen elsewhere   At least that seems logical to me.

Vrabel also wasn't unemployed last year.  He was with the Browns working as a consultant.

After consulting with doctors again this morning, the plan is for Abdul Carter to work out at his Pro Day and not have surgery. He has reported no pain for what is a small stress reaction in his foot.

The belief is, despite the scare, he should be ok.

Hopefully that injury scare pushes him down to #10 in the draft, lol.

If I were a Top-3 team, I would not take him. Way too risky. Nope.

Seems more likely now that TEN trades the first pick to someone looking for a QB.  Carter could fall to NE now. Worth the risk at 4?

Absolutely!

I'd be doing cartwheels if he fell to 4 and we took him

Can't say I'm a fan of this QB class so if TEN doesn't like it either and can get a ransom for the pick, good for them.  If you're drafting a QB at #1, you can't miss or it'll really set you back.

Dreading a bit to see what Tenn gets for that pick.

To be honest, it's probably not the best year to have the #1 pick in the draft.  I haven't see any consensus #1 pick or anything really standing out as surefire.  Carter probably has the most talent, IMO,  but is he really going to go #1?

I'm sure Titans will get an adequate return trading it but I see a lot of question marks and are teams really salivating at the prospect of betting the house and trading up for Cam Ward?

I will say, if I have to choose btw Ward & Sanders, I'm taking Ward.  I think Sanders is gonna bust.

I doubt it will be anything like three firsts for Trey Lance. I doubt the market is that good for that pick. It is still better to have the first pick than the fourth pick of course.  There is still a chance we end up with Hunter or Carter anyway anyways.

Say the draft goes Ward Hunter Carter, in some order. Most mocks have the Patriots taking Campbell at that point. They could also trade to someone interested in Sanders. But how about if they just took Sanders themselves. You could trade Milton. The idea would be that Sanders would have more value later. Not sure that would be the case. Very unlikely they would do this. But interesting to speculate.

Another option would be that if you really like Sanders after one year as the back up, think what you could get if you put Maye out as trade bait. Again, this is really unlikely to happen.
