I just don't understand Butler's actions. Why put himself in a position to get suspended, losing millions of dollars in the process?
Spo gave him a chance by continuously starting him. He played with zero effort. Now he?s insulted when being relegated to the bench. What exactly does he want? He?s showing the whole NBA his true character.
Can?t believe people wanted to trade Jaylen for Buckets
The history with Buckets is there? Pretty much every day he?s had with the team has ended in tears and discord like this. I wouldn?t touch him with a 10 foot pole.
Idk, man. I think Jimmy would have played better defense than that on Thompson.
Jimmy sounds like he just wants to win basketball games, a new environment that'll make him happy. Does he want to come to Boston? Willing to trade JB for him but we need another player back and some picks
Trading JB for butler is insane Butler is a whiny little sook who is old, is always injured, plays with 30% effort in the regular season and seems to butt heads with people everywhere he goes. Don't want him anywhere near this team.
It sounds more like Miami is just disrespecting Jimmy. Them saying Jimmy isn't starting and Haywood Highsmith of all people is starting over him is basically the Heat punishing Jimmy.
But Jimmy does seem to play hard on offense and defense. Maybe just needs a change in environment. I'd do the trade but we need a king's ransom back and maybe get a third team involved lol.
Disrespecting him? Pat Riley called him out because he was talking smack about other teams/players while he was busy sitting on the bench, and because he never plays hard in the regular season. Those are very fair and legitimate criticisms coming from one of the most respected personalities in NBA history - and instead of taking ownership and accepting the criticism he jumped up and down like a whiny little girl and sooked in the corner.
Jimmy Butler has an amplified version of Marcus Smart syndrome. He thinks he's far bigger and more valuable then he actually is. Butler in his prime was an all-star who believed he was a superstar - I can live with that. The problem is that now he's 35 years old, he hasn't played 65+ games since 2018, hasn't played a playoff game since 2022 and hasn't made an all-star team since 2021 - and yet he still thinks he's a top tier superstar who needs to be worshipped and have his feet kissed.
Butler still has value in this league as a #2 - #3 scoring option who is capable of having big clutch moments, but for that value to materialise itself he needs to accept that he's no longer the player he once was, and has to show a willingness to take a step back, accept a reduced role, sacrifice some of that superstar treatment. At this point in time his ego is clearly too big to allow him to do that, and that makes him a problem.
And unlike Butler, Jaylen Brown has shown he can step up in championship situations and has a ring and a finals MVP to show for it. The last time Butler made the NBA finals he choked like Justin Beiber at a Diddy party.
