That is a terrible call. Jalen Smith came from behind and picked Embiid's pocket on the break. Embiid dives head first -- well shoulder first -- into the ground and gets the whistle.

Jalen Smith scored from midcourt at the end of Q3. His three point shooting has been causing Embiid problems. Embiid doesn't want to go out there and defend him.

Embiid reminds me of Patrick Ewing in the mid 1990s. Ewing could no longer move like he did in the late 80s start of 90s. He wasn't as dominant a defender anymore. Oakley replaced him as the team's most important interior defender.

Ewing was still fantastic. He was the 3rd/4th best center in the league. He was a top 10 player in the league. He was terrific. But there was a physical drop-off from the late 80s early 90s. He was no longer a top 5 level player.

Embiid has looked very good offensively as Ewing continued to be but  is less and less active as a help defender on defense. He isn't active. He is getting rest. He isn't in proper position. Similar to Ewing who also saw a defensive decline with that athletic decline. Those knee injuries which harmed Ewing's physical capacity. Similar as Embiid.

Agh ... Chicago pulled it within 5 with 4 minutes to go but then go cold. Make only one basket in the next 3 and a half minutes. Choke the game away. Philly were giving them the opening. Chicago could not take advantage.

Looking at the NBA standings, wow Dallas has done really well over the past few weeks and are now the 2 seed in the West. Lakers have fallen to the 10 seed while the Nuggets and Wolves still are around that play-in range.

Still think it's OKC coming out of the West, but it's pretty jumbled between 2-10. Only like 4 games separates that group.

I don't know why post players are allowed shoulder barge these days. You are meant to back down with your ass. Not slamming your shoulder into the defender.

Never called.

Orlando giving Phoenix (minus Durant) all they can handle without Banchero or F Wagner. Their team spirit is exceptional. Hard working team orientated guys.

Their coach deserves a massive amount of credit for what he has built there in Orlando. Brilliant job.

Jokic with another monster game

48pts 14reb 8ast 3stl

This is after his last game of

56pts 16reb 8ast 1stl

Ridiculous two game stretch from Jokic.

Ant has settled for so many bad 3 pointers late in this one. I don't like this increase in 3s from him. It is his dynamism attacking the basket that makes him special. This takes away from his best asset.

I just saw this on Reddit. During last night?s Cleveland and Miami game, Bam and Rozier were trying to grab a rebound with 1:23 remaining in the game. Essentially, Terry prevented Bam from getting the rebound. This was their exchange:

Bam: "You keep f**cking up my boards".
Terry: "I got 9 boards. You got your double double, let me get my sh*t".

I like Rozier when he was here, but this sounds like him. Personal stats ahead of team.

Ridiculous two game stretch from Jokic.

He's second in PPG at 32.3, behind only Giannis at 32.5.
He's first in RPG at 13.6, second is Karl Anthony-Towns at 13.2.
And he's second in APG at 10.2, behind only Trae Young at 12.2

He could convivially win the "triple crown" this year, though catching Young for the APG crown will be tough.

The Nuggets have a net +31.2 with Jokic on the floor vs off.

Just generational stuff on the floor, and an all time terrible job building the team around him by the front office and owners.

Sounds like a good Al replacement 😜

Scottie Barnes does a lot of the same things for the Raptors that Tatum does for the Celtics. That type of connective tissue for their (1) defense (2) rebounding (3) secondary ball-handling & playmaking to take pressure off their guards.

Obviously, Tatum has a huge edge in terms of scoring / shot creation / shooting ability. But they are quite similar in other areas of the game. Both high level versatile big defensive forwards. Both capable of being 8-10 rebounds a game. Both create easier shots for their teammates. And both do so at a similarly high level in each of these 3 areas.

RJ Barrett - 23.3ppg 6.6rpg 5.9apg

Commentators said he was 2nd in the league in transition scoring. He has been torching the Knicks in transition tonight. 30pts performance.

His shooting percentages aren't great though. 45.8% FG% 34.4% 3PT% 71.4% FT% 55% TS%. He has been playing without much help offensively for most of the season though. I would expect those numbers to improve some with Toronto finally getting healthy.

It is nice to see Olynyk back out there. Toronto look better with him. They have a quality backup big now. A big who can play away from the basket. A guy they can play through (as a passer) on offense. A different type of threat to Poeltl. Raptors starting to look more like a .500 team with Olynyk and S Barnes back.

The Heat are open to listening to offers for (Jimmy) Butler and making a deal if the proposal is right, league sources told ESPN, and Butler?s agent, Bernie Lee, has indicated in league circles that Butler is open to destinations such as two of the Texas teams (Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks) and the Golden State Warriors.  via ESPN
