Wow, this is Kyrie's 14th season already. I did not think he was around that long. Came in as a 19yo in 2011-12. He will turn 33 later this season in March.

He is averaging almost 25ppg 5.6apg 4.8rpg on 50.4% FG% 46.6% 3PT% 87.9% FT%. A 62.5% TS%. Still doesn't get many FTs and takes about 40% of his shots from 3. He is having a fine season.

Interesting to see where his career stats are now that is at 14yrs

- 17,760 points
- 4,239 assists
- 979 steals

For his career, Kyrie is shooting 47.5% FG% 39.5% 3PT% 88.6% FT% 58.4% TS%. He is 89th All Time in points. He will pass Magic Johnson in the next 2-3 games. Kyrie could add another 1,000 points before the season is out and climb up to around 70th.

Despite all that, I see Kyrie as a disappointment who hasn't reached his potential.  He's never put effort into defense, and despite excellent passing skills, his assists are incidental to his own offense.  And, his own selfishness has cost his team on multiple occasions.  He could easily have at least two more championships right now.

Plus, he's an anti-Semite, and I just can't get behind hatred.

Yeah, I agree. It is nice to see him do well in Dallas but he could have been a much more team orientated player in his career and he would have enjoyed a lot more success.

A frustrating player.

I still think he is World B Free Part II. Kyrie just got to play on better teams than World B Free did.

For the NBA Cup, go Magic and hope the Bucks/Pistons game is a blowout either way

Magic need to step it up if we want any chance of advancing. Alternatively, we need a miraculous 35 point stomping by New York, which is *fairly* unlikely.

Okay scratch that. We now need NY to blow doors and beat them by like 37

Welp - lead up to 36 now. Maybe it?s not so unlikely haha

But I bet NYK lets up some at the end to let them come back some so we don?t advance. Smarter play.

The NBA is really hyping this Emirates Cup?showing triple screens to monitor the point differentials.

It's actually 38 unfortunately that they need to win by. Now down to 29. Ugh

Welp, this is what we get for playing that Hawks game half effort.

Get em next year  ::)

Kind of hoping the Hawks win the whole thing.  NBA must be pumped to have them instead if the defending champs of the real cup.
Yup

In 31 mins of play tonight, Elfrid Payton had 21 assists for the Pelicans. Haven?t seen a 20+ assist game in a while.

Crazy. They just picked him up as a FA recently due to an injury crisis and the guy comes in with 14pts 21ast 7reb.

Update

And now New Orleans have waived Elfrid Payton.

He played 7 games for them. What is that? 2 weeks?

Outside of that 14pts 21ast 7reb game, Payton averaged 5.7ppg 4.5apg 2.8rpg in just 18.8mpg. He shot 45.7% from the field. He made no three pointers. Only took 1 in the 7 games. He only got to the foul line once in 7 games where he split a pair. So TS% would be bad.

I feel sorry for him that he can't stick around. You would think a guy like that could at least get a 3rd stringer job.

I hate that Emirates Cup nonsense. The marketing / branding. So irrelevant a competition that they sell name rights to it.

Malik Monk with 17pts and 12ast last night. He has become a brilliant all round offensive player over the last 2-3 years. His growth as a passer & playmaker has been fantastic. He has been clutch. Great Q4 scoring numbers. He can create off the bounce or play off the ball. He has the total package offensively.

Amazing how much he has grown since his early years in the NBA. Never would have foresaw him becoming such a passer or all-round offensive player.

I?ll never forget the poster on these boards who insistently maintained for multiple seasons that Payton was a better player than Smart.
