I do not understand Wemby step back 3s. Why!?

You are 7 foot 5 inches. Why are you taking 27 foot contested jump shots?

So the Celtics finish with a +23 point differential. The other teams in the running through three games are....
Orlando at +60
Bucks at +29
Detroit at +28
Knicks at +15

So in order to make the cup tournament they will need...

Orlando to beat New York on Tuesday
and
Either Milwaukee to beat Detroit by 5+ or Detroit to beat Milwaukee by 6+ on Tuesday

Not unfathomable

The big thing is Orlando needing to beat NY, but if they do that then all of a sudden the C's chances might be pretty good. MIL-DET to me does feel like it could be a double digit win for one side.

It's a pathetic event where a team can be 16-3 with a +10.5 point differential and likely not make the "tournament."

What a joke. Either do it right or don't bother.

It is what it is.  If a bunch of teams go 3-1 someone has to lose out.  Celts lost to a mediocre team.

I think they should use the round play for seeding but let everyone into a single elimination tournament like NCAAs.  It would be a scheduling nightmare but more fun.

Or they could, you know, use a reasonable number of games (not 4) to determine entry and seeding and then do it during an extended all-star break. Minus the useless all-star game

Seems to be working, though. He finished with 34pts, 14rebs, 11ast, 3blks. 11-17 from the field, 5-9 from 3pt.

The leaguewide presumption about the Jazz nonetheless persists that Collins like fellow veterans Jordan Clarkson and Collin Sexton is a prime candidate to be dealt between now and the Feb. 6 trade deadline by Jazz CEO Danny Ainge.  via marcstein.substack.com

If Walker Kessler is available I hope the C's go after him
Doubt he?s available. He?s young and cheap. The 3 listed that are available make 26, 18 and 14. Good luck trading those contracts.

I?m only one who doesn?t care about the cup tournament??

I couldn't care less. Just another regular season game.

More than don?t care, I don?t like it at all. I hope the Celtics don?t make it to Vegas.

I hate those stupid courts. They are an eye-sore.

I enjoy the tournament novelty but the courts are awful and dumb.

I like our court.  Any of the red / pink ones are terrible.
Red is really bad, hard to see the orange ball.

I'm losing a lot of respect for Embiid. Is this guy basically going to just sit out like 80% of the season? It's constantly "injury management and/or personal reasons" with him. What a joke.

Imagine getting paid nearly 200M to just do this constantly and then act like the "victim" whenever he's rightfully called out  ::)

And save me the "chronic injury" BS. He seemed to be perfectly fine playing Olympics basketball

Embiid looked awful during the Olympics.

Philly should trade him anyways. Get back what you can, then tank for Flagg

After that debacle with Paul George and internal team meeting leaks, I would be surprised if Embiid isn't requesting for a trade. I think he's done with the 76ers. Went through several eras of front offices and HCs- Jerry Colangelo, Sam Hinkie's The Process, Elton Brand, Daryl Morey, head coaches- Brett Brown, Doc Rivers, and now Nick Nurse.

Unfortunately, there are a few teams who could welcome his services- Miami Heat (involving a $285M trade package that would land Embiid) and Indiana Pacers (a Big 3 of Haliburton, Siakam, and Embiid would be a contending team in the East)

DeAndre Hunter is on a roll the last 4 games. 22ppg off the bench. Shooting lights out from two and from three point range.

Wow, this is Kyrie's 14th season already. I did not think he was around that long. Came in as a 19yo in 2011-12. He will turn 33 later this season in March.

He is averaging almost 25ppg 5.6apg 4.8rpg on 50.4% FG% 46.6% 3PT% 87.9% FT%. A 62.5% TS%. Still doesn't get many FTs and takes about 40% of his shots from 3. He is having a fine season.

Interesting to see where his career stats are now that is at 14yrs

- 17,760 points
- 4,239 assists
- 979 steals

For his career, Kyrie is shooting 47.5% FG% 39.5% 3PT% 88.6% FT% 58.4% TS%. He is 89th All Time in points. He will pass Magic Johnson in the next 2-3 games. Kyrie could add another 1,000 points before the season is out and climb up to around 70th.

Despite all that, I see Kyrie as a disappointment who hasn't reached his potential.  He's never put effort into defense, and despite excellent passing skills, his assists are incidental to his own offense.  And, his own selfishness has cost his team on multiple occasions.  He could easily have at least two more championships right now.

Plus, he's an anti-Semite, and I just can't get behind hatred.
