Boy the Bucks are just a mess.

The Dame experiment is turning out to be a failure. Their bench is horrible as well. Giannis has apparently named his 2 preferred destinations - Miami or Brooklyn. Bucks must be in panic mode. They have a year to fix this mess and convince Giannis that they will still be a contender.

Maybe not even that.  There's grumblings that he could ask out this season, though I seriously doubt they'd make that move midseason. But I do think it's a real possibility next summer if they don't right the ship.

I wonder if the Rockets will look to get in to the Giannis business. They're due for a 3 for 1 or even 4 for 1 type trade.

If I'm the Bucks I'm asking for at least Jabari Smith, Amen Thompson, Reed Sheppard and an absurd amount of 1st rounders.

I feel like Miami and Brooklyn don't have anything close to the assets to go after Giannis. Brooklyn would have to win the lottery this year and next, then trade Flagg, next years best prospect, and multiple firsts.

Houston has tangible good young players, and a team like OKC could throw like 7 1sts at MIL for Giannis.

I don't understand why Giannis would want to go to Brooklyn.  Certainly not prioritizing winning there.  However, they have lot of 1sts after the Bridges trade and Brooklyn's own 1sts are going to be a lot better than OKC's own 1sts.

I think there will be a lot of trades by the deadline. Can see some big pieces being moved: Jimmy Butler, Lillard or Middleton, CJ McCollum, Deandre Ayton, Jerami Grant, Marcus Smart, D-Russell, John Collins.

Would welcome Marcus Smart back but he'd be coming off the bench. Could also use Jimmy Butler as well

Really fun game between Minny and Denver.  Both teams blew double-digit leads in the 4th quarter.

San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama joined a very exclusive club with his big game on Thursday. Wembanyama put together the second 5x5 game of his young career.

That made him just the third player in NBA history with multiple 5x5 games, joining Hakeem Olajuwon and Andrei Kirilenko.

Not a great start to the season for Denver. Their defense is awful.

Jamal Murray is a key guy for them.  They year the won it, he was at the top of his game.  Over 26 pts/gm, about 40% from 3, over 7 asst/gm for the 2022-23 playoff run.  In this game, he was 2 for 7 in 22 minutes, 0 for 3 from 3.  If he doesn't come around, if he is cooked, they are in trouble.  They have no where else to go besides Jokic for offense/creation.  Gordon and Porter can score,  they are threats, but not creators.

Orlando look weak without Banchero

G: Suggs
G: KCP / G Harris
F: A Black / J Isaac
F: F Wagner
C: WCJ / M Wagner

Franz Wagner as your 1st option?

No legit 2nd option? No other quality creators?

Orlando could be set for a rough stretch here until Banchero comes back.

Maybe Cole Anthony but he is only playing 13mpg and averaging 2ppg to start this season. He has fallen way off from where he was 2-3 years ago. This would be a great time for him to step up and help fill some of that void. I'd even start him. Move KCP to SF. Play C Anthony and Suggs together in the backcourt.

Bucks have lost 5 straight, including one tonight at home to the Cavs. Next game they play at Cavaliers.

Think Giannis will start pouting and demand for a trade this February?

Indiana have lost both of their backup centers to season ending injuries. Both torn achilles. Isaiah Jackson & James Wiseman.

They should be able to replace those guys with a minimum contract free agent though. Neither guy is all that good.

Mr. 46 Percent

There?s no guarantee that Embiid will play in the next home game, either. It?s on Saturday. Furthermore, it?s highly unlikely that Embiid will play in all of the ensuing home games, even if they?re not back-to-backs; after all, he?s missed 46% of regular-season games since the Sixers drafted him in 2014.

Strange stuff going on between Embiid and a 76ers beat writer Marcus Hayes. Hayes has been writing some critical articles of Embiid in the last week for not being ready to start the season. Apparently he is not injured. He just isn't ready to play. Embiid also plans to never play in back to backs again for the remainder of his career. So Hayes has been taking shots at him in the papers. Then the other night Embiid shoved him after a game.

Hayes is calling for fans to get a refund from the team for games Embiid skips. Games he is not injured but chooses not to play.

Also called Embiid the least dependable superstar in NBA history.

Quote
The degree of contempt Embiid has for his organization, for his industry, and, especially, for the fans who pay him all of his money is utterly flabbergasting.

Because fans buy the tickets, and fans watch TV, and fans buy the products on TV that are advertised.

Embiid?s part of the bargain is to show up and play basketball. But he doesn?t even bother to be in good enough shape to hold up this part of the bargain.

Quote
[Paul] George spends a lot of his time injured. It?s more inevitability than bad luck, frankly, seeing how he?s 34 and has played only 64% of his team?s regular-season games in the past five years.

Which is 3% less than Joel Embiid.

Quote
The five most significant players of Embiid?s existence ? Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James ? participated in 93% of their teams? regular-season games in their fourth through eighth seasons. They were out of shape an average of 3? days a year ? you know, about the same number of days Embiid is in shape.

These are the titans whose talent Embiid shares. But talent is all he shares with them.

Not pride. Not respect. Not professionalism. Just talent. Talent has never been enough to be a champion.

Ouch!
