Mr. 46 Percent

There?s no guarantee that Embiid will play in the next home game, either. It?s on Saturday. Furthermore, it?s highly unlikely that Embiid will play in all of the ensuing home games, even if they?re not back-to-backs; after all, he?s missed 46% of regular-season games since the Sixers drafted him in 2014.

Strange stuff going on between Embiid and a 76ers beat writer Marcus Hayes. Hayes has been writing some critical articles of Embiid in the last week for not being ready to start the season. Apparently he is not injured. He just isn't ready to play. Embiid also plans to never play in back to backs again for the remainder of his career. So Hayes has been taking shots at him in the papers. Then the other night Embiid shoved him after a game.

Hayes is calling for fans to get a refund from the team for games Embiid skips. Games he is not injured but chooses not to play.

Also called Embiid the least dependable superstar in NBA history.

Quote
The degree of contempt Embiid has for his organization, for his industry, and, especially, for the fans who pay him all of his money is utterly flabbergasting.

Because fans buy the tickets, and fans watch TV, and fans buy the products on TV that are advertised.

Embiid?s part of the bargain is to show up and play basketball. But he doesn?t even bother to be in good enough shape to hold up this part of the bargain.

Quote
[Paul] George spends a lot of his time injured. It?s more inevitability than bad luck, frankly, seeing how he?s 34 and has played only 64% of his team?s regular-season games in the past five years.

Which is 3% less than Joel Embiid.
Embiid doesn't have a new injury but he's dealing with knee issues.  The word "unstable" has been used.  The NBA has completed their investigation.  They fined the Sixers 100k but it wasn't because they were sitting Embiid when he isn't injured.  They fined the Sixers for misleading statements that Embiid was sitting due to a plan rather than due to injury.

Embiid has been injured a lot but he's also played through injuries a lot too.  He's been very loyal to Philly and is too a large degree the reason that the Sixers have been relevant this past decade.  Hayes ought to be complaining about why the Sixers org has been unable to field a competitive team when Embiid is out injured or even just resting on the bench during games.

The thing is, the reporter bought up Embiid's family in the article, including his son and deceased brother. He traded barbs with Embiid and involved them.

Sorry but that is a BIG NO-NO. I don't care if you hate the guy, that is just a low blow and not needed. So I can see Embiid being upset at the reporter about that.

Overall though, that's just an ugly situation brewing and I don't think Embiid is doing anyone any favors with his actions either. The reporters aren't wrong either saying fans should boycott or demand refunds for games Embiid "takes off". The guy is making nearly 200M and only choosing to play half the games.

I think this will end with Embiid being inevitably traded when he demands one. Golden State seems like a good fit.

Crazy thing is, we can see both Giannis and Embiid leave the East potentially either at the deadline or this next offseason.

Totally with Embiid on this.  Reporter made it personal. Brought family into this. That reporter is a POS. Maybe getting physical isn?t quite the right answer but I?m not faulting Embiid for his reaction.

Embiid, you just need a change in scenery. Come join Boston and help win multiple chips.

Joel Embiid consistently points to the birth of his son, Arthur, as the major inflection point in his basketball career. He often says that he wants to be great to leave a legacy for the boy named after his little brother, who tragically died in an automobile accident when Embiid was in his first year as a 76er. Well, in order to be great at your job, you first have to show up for work.

The next sentence is pretty brutal as well (I've added it in). Definitely inflammatory, probably over the line.

Another 7 turnover game from Cade Cunningham.

That is his 3rd game with 7+ turnovers in the first 7 games this season. Another 2 games with 5 turnovers.

Is Jalen Johnson becoming a Shawn Marion type forward?

Bucks have lost 5 straight, including one tonight at home to the Cavs. Next game they play at Cavaliers.

Think Giannis will start pouting and demand for a trade this February?

The Bucks have lost 6 straight, including a clincher to the Cavaliers tonight. They are now the worst team in the East. Perhaps it's time for panic in Milwaukee?
