I don't get it for Belichick. Feels pointless and frankly kind of beneath him. Unless he truly thinks or knows he won't get another NFL coaching job anywhere, but at that point why not just retire? Maybe it's to set up his son to coach UNC when Bill retires?

I would have seen how the NFL playoffs played out tbh. Like as good as Philly has been, what if they went one and done in the playoffs, does Sirianni get canned? What about the Bills?

No one wanted him in the NFL. He?s 72 years old and still wants to coach. That?s why he?s going to UNC. I?m sure he will bring his sons along and some of his former assistants who don?t have jobs. Will be interesting to see if any of the top recruits want to play for him. I?m not sure they will.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Belichick is following in Nick Saban's footsteps.  Belichick won't accomplish what Saban did in college but Saban did not accomplish nearly what Belichick did in the NFL.  I don't know what Belichick is thinking, of course, but just connecting dots, he loves football, loves coaching, hates TV, so why not coach a few years more at a relatively low pressure school in the ACC?  What is the alternative, spend the whole day shopping with his young hot girlfriend?

Not a bad contract for a 72 year old...

Sports Casting Betting Tips and News

David Evans Sports Editor

Bill Belichick Salary & Contract:

Belichick's $30 million contract appears to follow a staggered annual salary model, a common approach for long-term deals. This structure spreads the financial load over the term and rewards longevity. Here's how it likely breaks down:

    Year 1: $5.5 million
    Year 2: $5.75 million
    Year 3: $6 million
    Year 4: $6.25 million
    Year 5: $6.5 million

Bill Belichick Incentives:

While specifics haven't been disclosed, Belichick's incentives likely reflect industry norms for a deal of this value. Expected bonuses might include:

    Conference Championship Win: $750,000
    College Football Playoff Appearance: $1,000,000
    National Championship Win: $1,500,000
Top 10 Final Poll Finish: $250,000
    Bowl Game Appearance: $500,000
Academic Progress Rate (APR) above 970: $150,000

Bill Belichick has interviewed for the UNC head coaching position.

Why?  At 72 years old I'd prefer traveling, commentating and dating 20-something year old cheerleaders over working 16 hour days.

So would I, but that obsession is what makes guys like Belichick and Saban so successful.

I read an article the other day about a former Bama player being in the locker room immediately after winning the national title and Saban was asking players whether they were planning on returning the following season or going pro. Minutes after winning, he was already focusing on the next season.

Belichick recruiting and then coaching high school kids - I don't see it working.
Plus he doesn't have control over players the way he did in the pros.
These college prima donnas just transfer when they don't get their way.

Hopefully the games later on today, in the college football playoff, drastically improve. The first two games have been awful and completely non-competitive. Either the wrong teams were chosen, or the field should not include 12 teams.

The wrong teams were chosen.

I think the Texas/Clemson game will be more competitive

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think either will be close. If they were neutral site games, they might be competitive. However, home field advantage is massive in college football. The only time it doesn't really matter is for rivalry games, and these games don't meet that criteria.

This game has been pretty good. Clemson battling. Texas should still prevail but it's a nice battle

I don't think these 1st round football playoff games should be home games for the higher seed.  Too much of an advantage.  Play those games at a neutral site.   All you are doing is giving those teams a cakewalk to the next round.  I don't know how that is fair.

Home field is an advantage but that's more so in close games.  These blowouts just like the blowouts in previous playoffs where the games were played on neutral fields are predominantly due to talent differential.  Indiana and SMU aren't even in the same ballpark as far as talent goes.  Clemson at least has top 10 or so talent.

I think it was a huge advantage today for Texas and Penn State regardless of the talent level.   It just isn't a level playing field for the teams that were selected.
