So predictable.  The Florida AD announces that Napier will be retained as head coach earlier this week.  Now Florida is down 35-0 to Texas at halftime.  The football gods are having a good laugh.

Georgia Tech upsets Miami to give them their 1st loss.

And Georgia goes down to Ole Miss.

One remarkable note from Saturday.  In the Colorado/Texas Tech game, Travis Hunter participated in 161 plays.  Seems likely that there will be a non-QB Heisman winner with Hunter or Jeanty.  College QB play has been rather pedestrian this season.

The Athletic top 50 NFL draft board only has 4 QBs and Cam Ward is the highest at #16.

Getting down to it for teams in contention to make the playoffs.  SEC is really wild.  With the potential for 8 2-loss teams all tied for first at the end of the season.

Texas at Arkansas - An undervalued rivalry.  Arkansas would love to give Texas a 2nd loss to put them on the edge of missing the playoffs while getting a 6th win to qualify for the bowl game and probably ensuring Pittman keeps his job for another season.

Utah at Colorado - Can Utah recover from their failed upset of BYU last week to upset Colorado?  Colorado is on the brink of making the B12 championship game and doing it without a lot of hype.

Clemson at Pittsburg - Two 2-loss teams fighting to stay alive in the ACC championship hunt.

Mercer at Bama - Mercer is 9-1 so a pretty tough cupcake game.  Bama needs to put the game away in the 1st half and let the 2nd and 3rd stringers loose in the 2nd half.

Boston College at SMU - SMU is in the driver's seat for the ACC championship game.  Can BC pull off the road upset?

LSU at Florida - LSU with 3 losses still has an outside chance of making the SEC championship.  Can they recover from their beat down last week?  Can Florida play like a team with a pulse and pull off the upset?

Missouri at South Carolina - Missouri has the better record but South Carolina appears to be the better team.

Arizona State at Kansas State - 2 2-loss Big12 teams trying to stay alive in the B12 championship hunt.

Tennessee at Georgia - Tennessee win probably puts them in the SEC championship game and knocks Georgia out of the playoff hunt.  Neither team is running on all cylinders and injuries could play a factor.  Georgia has owned Tennessee for more than a decade.

Kansas at BYU - Kansas upset Iowa State and BYU barely escaped Utah last week.  Can Kansas make it 2 upsets in a row?

With signing day less than 2 weeks away, flipping commits is in full swing.  QB commits are of course most important.  USC lost JuJu Lewis to Colorado but then flipped Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet.

But the huge news yesterday was Michigan flipping the #1 rated player QB Bryce Underwood from LSU.  It really shouldn't be a big deal since Underwood is from Michigan and just a half hour away from the Michigan campus.  However it apparently required a godfather offer (12M over 4 years) to get the flip done.  The Michigan NIL collective's statement thanked Jolin and Larry Ellison.  Not sure who Jolin Ellison is but Larry Ellison might be Oracle co-founder who is uber, uber rich (200B+ $$$).  If so, he could be one heck of a sugar daddy for the Michigan football program.

Just a couple more weeks of the regular season left.

Indiana at Ohio State - Indiana is undefeated but with a really weak strength of schedule.  Ohio State is their first and only good opponent.  If Indiana loses do they miss the playoffs or do they stay in if they keep it close?  What if Indiana pulls the upset?  Would a 2-loss Ohio State be on the bubble for making the playoffs?  That would certainly make the Michigan game really interesting next week.

Ole Miss at Florida - Can Florida pull of a 2nd straight upset in the swamp, giving Ole Miss their 3rd loss and knocking them from the playoffs?

Penn State at Minnesota - People are talking about a potential upset but I don't see it.  But if it happens, would 2-loss Penn State be on the bubble for missing the playoffs?

BYU at Arizona State - The winner is likely to make the Big12 championship game.

Colorado at Kansas - Colorado is on track to make the Big12 Championship game but can Kansas pull off another upset?

Army at Notre Dame - Can undefeated Army pull off the huge upset?  I bet everyone but Notre Dame fans are hoping for it.  If they can does it vault them into the playoffs and knock Notre Dame out?

Bama at Oklahoma - This should be a solid win for Bama.  Again need to get off to a good start and hope good Milroe shows up.  Bama just needs to keep winning to make the playoffs.  An Oklahoma upset would certainly provide their fans some joy in an otherwise disappointing season.

Texas A&M at Auburn - An Auburn upset would not be surprising.  Even when they're having a bad season strange stuff happens in Auburn especially at night games.  A game without committing turnovers would qualify as strange this season and could well give them the victory.

Indiana loses to Ohio State 38-15 which should put them on the bubble for the playoffs.  But they get helped out when Ole Miss loses to Florida 24-17 which gives them their 3rd loss and essentially knocks them from the playoffs.  Horrible quarterback play by Jaxon Dart over the last 2 minutes committing interceptions on their last 2 possessions.

Yeah, this year it hasn't been the  good SEC teams beating up on each other so much as them losing non-conference games and to bad teams.

Yeah, this year it hasn't been the SEC beating up on itself so much as losing non-conference games.
It certainly has been SEC teams beating up on each other.  Bama 3 SEC road losses, Georgia and Tennessee 2 SEC road losses, South Carolina 3 SEC losses, Texas 1 SEC loss, Missouri 3 SEC losses and Ole Miss 3 SEC losses.  The only non-conference losses amongst the top 9 SEC teams were: LSU lost to USC and Texas A&M lost Notre Dame.

If a 3-loss team makes the playoffs, Bama certainly has an argument to be it.  Personally if South Carolina beats Clemson, I'd rate them to be the 1st 3-loss team to make the playoffs.
