Nuggets first-rounder Da?Ron Holmes tore his Achilles last night, highlighting the unfortunate downside of summer league.  Very tough way to start his career.  Also rough for a thin Nuggets squad that is fighting cap issues.

Really. That sucks big-time.

I'm not sure I agree on the downside, even if it sucks. It's like saying it highlights the downside of practice. He's gotta play to get better.

I was interested to see how he may play with Jokic this year. Hopefully he can recover.

I thought Reed Sheppard looked good. Moved well. Handled the pressure. Shot was very comfortable.

Whitmore is a heck of an athlete. Wow

He can dunk but can he shoot? Reed can dunk and shoot.

Whitmore shot 36% from 3pt last season in the NBA. So I am going to say yes.

I just watched a sequence where 4 Lakers players all made nice hustle plays on both ends, touched the ball, a guy missed the shot and then Bronny was the 5th guy who came in and completely whiffed on an open tip-in.

And yet all Doris and ESPN did was praise Bronny for his hustle on the court and "instincts" even though it was all the others and Bronny didn't do a thing besides the attempted tip-in ::)

The truth will not get you many friends in the major media,  give the drama and what they want  It?s all about lying to get attention, clicks , ratings peer pressure  , boss pressure , yeah don?t you dare dis Brons son, keep up your image to LA and NYC . New mass media is anything but realistic or about offering a truthful insight . It?s all self motivation, so I put no stock in people like her say.  Not what they actually know , but what they think MOST people will want to hear .

Bronny James is only 19 (turns 20 in Oct).  I think he looked fine in summer league, he showed he has the core athletic ability to run with the summer league talent.  He didn't stand out in any way, was really just kind of average, which still is not bad for a 19 year old.  But he has a long way to go before he will be ready for the NBA, as is the case with most summer leaguers.  He is probably not any better than most 2-way players, but he got a contract.  He has a lot of potential ceiling in my mind, but it is just that, only potential.  He is probably better than Davison was at 19 for example.

He probably belongs on a 2-way deal, playing mostly in the G-League.  I don't see a future starter and maybe not even a future bench rotation player.  I see a player who might make it and be in the league for a bit, on the end of the bench.  But a lot can change when you are only 19.

Bronny is the equivalent of the Antetokounmpo family.  You have one superstar and the rest is just nepotism.  If Bronny had any other name he'd still be in college.  If the Antetokounmpo brothers (not name Giannis) had different names they'd all be in Europe.

I Haven?t watch any of young Bunny.
Walsh entered the league as a 19yr old 2nd round pick known for defense, similar to Bunny.
How would you compare their rookie year summer league performances?

This is a common misconception, at least with respect to thansis. Thanisis was drafted by a team his brother didn?t play for (Knicks) and then not only played in the top leagues in Europe but played very well for Panathinaikos. All the people that write this on Twitter or elsewhere are being a combination of ignorant or insulting to Thanasis. Bronny James right now would certainly not be able to sign with a top European club.

Lebron and the lakers certainly put him in a bad spot with the guaranteed money. If he was on standard two way I think he would be at least a little less under the microscope

Guaranteed money is definitely NOT a bad spot.  In the end Bronny is either going to develop into an NBA player or he won't.  But that guaranteed contract likely gives him more time to develop with the Lakers than a 2-way contract.

Spurs are looking really good tonight.

I wouldn't underestimate the impact having veterans like CP3 and Barnes will have on that team not just as talent upgrades but as well as the development of the young guys (Wemby, Castle, Vassell, etc.). I'm high on them going into next year, I see them firmly as a play-in team.

I've been surprised to see quite a few 2nd round picks get 4yr contracts with 3yrs guaranteed this year. Mid 2nd to late 2nd rounders.

I can see the Spurs making a similar jump like Houston had done last season. Needed to balance out the roster with some vets and they did that.

I like the look of Cody Williams. Just the way he moves. He reminds me of guys like Brandon Ingram or Tracy McGrady. That size, that length, the body control, the ability to navigate space on the floor and in the air. He is very good at creating space for himself. He can shoot. He can score.

He didn't look for his shot enough in the Salt Lake SL but flashes of major potential were there.
