The Sixers bench is now
G: Kyle Lowry, Reggie Jackson
G: Eric Gordon, Jared McCain
F: KJ Martin
F: Yabusele
C: A Drummond, A Bona
Pretty good bench.
No true quality wing. Small guards. 4 of them. One wing in KJ Martin who is probably a below average bench player. Yabusele as a forward. He should be good. Drummond as a backup center. Bona as 3rd string center. Solid big man depth.
They got those 3 starting wings in Oubre, Caleb Martin & PG13. They are fine with small bench guards. They can cover the minutes. Yabu as their main backup forward. KJ Martin as a break in case of emergency end of bench player.
I like it. For both player & team. Good pickup for Philly. I like Yabu to be one of the top backup PFs in the league next year. Top 10 backup PF. Maybe top 5.
Gotta give to Philly. They have had a great summer.
Philly had an awesome summer. I might be in the minority but I also think this Philly team might be the best one Embiid's had when you also consider that 2024 Embiid is probably a lot more mature/talented than the 2019 version which had prime Tobias Harris, Simmons, Jimmy Butler, etc. The bench is pretty good too. George doesn't have to be an alpha, as long as he's a veteran 16-18 PPG 3rd option that's still a lot better than what they've had in recent years with the likes of Harris.
Still think health is going to be a factor for them, but besides that I think the East is:
Tier 1 - Boston
Tier 2 - New York, Philadelphia
Tier 3 - Milwaukee, Orlando, Indiana
Tier 4 - Everyone Else
New York and Philadelphia to me are very close #2 seeds. I'd probably give a slight edge to NY because of depth, and more mental fortitude. But it's close, and obviously each team has injury prone players.
I'm also not as high on Milwaukee. I think Giannis has peaked as a player IMO and he's not as reliable from a health standpoint. Their bench is also bad. It's the kind of team where they need Giannis and Lillard to carry them and if even one guy is out it hurts them.
