A little surprised that Oshae declined the option, to be honest.  I think he's a 10th man who performed like a 10th man and is paid like a 10th man.  I don't think he showed any improvements or qualities in his game that would make him likely to get a raise in free agency.

I hope I'm wrong though.  Hope somebody gives him a bag and a consistent role.  Whatever happens, he's a part of a ring and I'll remember him for that.

Can't blame a young player for trying to capitalize on a good season. Guys like him won't get many chances to get larger paydays in the league. He's got to try for it while he can.

Yeah, I don't blame him at all.  I like the guy and I want him to succeed.  Just surprised, that's all.

I don't really think its surprising at all. He probably performed well enough that a few teams, even a few good ones, will think he can contribute to the back end of a rotation. But even if that's not the case all he's turning down is a deal barely above the minimum, which he will obviously get from someone. So basically opting out gives him the upside of maybe getting more money and maybe getting a bigger role, with his floor being resigning somewhere else at the minimum. Thats a pretty easy choice imo.

If Brissett does walk it will be imperative that Walsh take the next step this summer to become a semi rotational player when needed .

I?ve expected him to decline it.  He didn?t win the 9th man role last year, and with the entire top 8 returning, as well as potentially  at least one of the players who fought him for it last year, it?s not surprising he?d look for somewhere with more playing time.  Winning is fun, and the bonus money he got for his playoff share is certainly nice, but it?s not at all surprising he?d want a chance to play every night, because it?s no fun sitting on the bench.
