Derrick Rose calls it quits after 16 years. What a career he's had. His 2011 MVP season was phenomenal. Definitely one of the best point guards of that time in the league. The 2009 playoff series against us was wild as a rookie leading the Bulls to 7 games. He got all the praises and respect from Pierce and KG. If he wasn't riddled with injuries he would've been something else.

The year we won Banner 17 he was drafted, and the year we won Banner 18 he hangs it up. I'll give him his roses.

Rose is probably the biggest "what if" since I've started watching basketball. It's not inconceivable to think he would have been a top 5 point guards of all time if he wasn't riddled with injuries.

It's unfortunate that we, as basketball fans, were robbed of so many good years of so many gifted players - Derrick Rose, Brandon Roy, Greg Oden, Yao Ming, the list goes on...injuries suck. They're probably my least favorite thing about the NBA - next to LeBron lol.

Wow Towns to Knicks for Randle and DiVincenzo.

Interesting move for a team that was in the WCF last season and trending up.

Not sure this makes the Knicks any better to be honest. I certainly don?t fear them as much now.

KAT dreadful in the playoffs

I think the Twolves win that trade if KAT doesn't improve from last year.

Donte DiVincenzo is a pretty good player, he could start in the back court with Edwards or Conley depending on the situation.

Assuming the Celts are healthy, I don't think the Knicks were/are a concern before/after the trade.  KAT puts up good stats but hasn't shown himself to be impactful for winning.

The New Orleans Pelicans and point guard Jose Alvarado have agree to a two-year, $9 million extension. Alvarado will also see his deal become guaranteed for this season at just under $2 million, before the extension kicks in for next season.

Bargain.

I think "not impactful to winning" gets a bit overblown.  I think it's true that he's not the alpha player that can carry a player by himself.  But, I think he can be a key part of a winning team.  He was excellent in the first two rounds last year, before having a poor series against Dallas.

I'm not "scared" of the Knicks, but they're a very good team that could beat us if they play well and we don't.

Los Angeles Clippers guard Terance Mann has agreed to a three-year, $47 million contract extension with the franchise, his CAA agents Aaron Mintz, Rich Beda and Romello Crowell told @TheAthletic.

The fully guaranteed new deal takes Mann through 2027-2028 season.

Very good deal.

Good for him. Didn?t realize that Mann grew up in Lowell MA. He was back visiting a few months ago.

Could've said the exact same thing a year ago about Porzingis as we watched him put up nice stats on a bottom dweller in Washington. Sometimes a player just needs to be put in the right role. KAT might not be #1 option, but he can be a nice fit next to a ball-dominant guard like Brunson.

On paper, the Knicks are better. How that translates as far as team chemistry and scheme remains to be seen.

I think that is a good comparison. Towns may well do for the Knicks what Porzingis did for the Celtics.

Embiid has lost 25lbs in order to stay healthier this season. Good news for 76ers fans. He was carrying too much weight.

On the opposite end of things, Orlando's Jonathon Isaac gained a huge amount of weight and now weighs 250lbs. Looks like he is trying to convert to being a big man rather than the combo forward he was at his lower weight (220lbs-230lbs).

They were playing him a fair bit at center towards the end of last season. I did not like him there. He doesn't understand the position. He still played like a forward instead of a big man (back line of defense, main rebounder, main roll threat). I like Isaac better as a 6th man where they can keep 2 of their 3 forwards (Isaac, Banchero, F Wagner) on the court at all times to keep the pressure up on their opposition.

I'm very interested to see how Orlando looks this season and whether they take that next step with Banchero. I loved the KCP addition for them. Sucks they missed out on another FA like George or Klay but there's still talent there.

Quite a few people are overlooking Orlando and I might be as well. So we'll see.

After NY, PHI and BOS the next group is hard to really forecast in terms of seeding (MIL, IND, ORL, CLE, etc) there could be lots of variation there depending on health and other factors.

The hits keep coming for our friend Rob.  From Portland..."The Trail Blazers have announced that Robert Williams III experienced a grade 1 hamstring strain during training camp this week. He is expected to miss two weeks,"  Still has two years on his contract...poor guy can't get away from the injury bug.

Boban Marjanovic couldn't get an NBA contract. He is 36 years old. He must have been around 30 when he came to the NBA. He hasn't been here that long.

Anyway, he is leaving the NBA and going back to Europe.
