Congrats to Sam's brother!  I'm sure it's just to get him on their G league team, but everybody needs a steppingstone.

Mitchell Robinson expected to miss the first two months for the Kicks.

Starting center Mitchell Robinson will likely not be ready to hit the court until December or January, as he?s still recovering from ankle surgery he underwent in May, league sources told The Athletic Monday. FOX Sports was first to report the news.

Man...the Knicks not having a legit big man is going to be interesting to watch. KP will probably be back before Robinson.

Actually that's a good point. They lost Hartenstein too. It'll be interesting to see, but they definitely need someone to handle the likes of Embiid/Giannis still. If Robinson isn't healthy come playoffs then Embiid's gonna eat them alive in a playoff series (or Giannis/Bam)

Giannis and Embid I agree with. I also think Porzginas could just shoot over their guys if the tallest player is precious. Bam though, is he really a big big? He is listed at 6'10 and seems smaller than that to me. I also don't think the Heat are really going to be a threat to the Knicks regardless unless they somehow pull off a miracle during the season.

I believe all NBA MVPs are in the Hall, but I don't think I'd vote for him.  Only a 3x All-Star, nothing special about his collegiate or international career, no championships.

Yeah, he was certainly on that trajectory...then the injuries happened.  Just doesn't have quite enough sustained excellence.

I will say, his 2010-11 season was one of the most ridiculous seasons I've seen from a basketball player.  He was just incredible that season and utterly unguardable.  It's a [dang] shame what happened with his injuries but it was a bit of a ticking time bomb with his style of play.

NEWS: ESPN has laid off NBA Sr. writer Zach Lowe, The Athletic has learned.

ESPN has parted ways with NBA senior writer Zach Lowe as part of the network?s continuing layoffs, sources briefed on the decision told The Athletic on Thursday.

Lowe follows the earlier dismissals of NFL personalities, Robert Griffin III and Sam Ponder. The moves are part of the network?s fiscal year planning that ends at the conclusion of September. ESPN and Lowe both declined to comment.

Losing Woj and Lowe in the same off season? ESPN is a shadow of what it once was, just disgraceful.

I'm a huge Lowe fan. hands down my favorite NBA personality.

Someone like Bill Simmons can get too far off the rails, going too far into pop culture, and can be a little whiny.

Someone like Stephen A or Nick Wright, they just yell at you and/or act like you're an idiot if you disagree.

Someone like JJ Redick is too Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. I think he's great when he's doing his podcast with people "on his level" (players/coaches/execs), but he comes off like a know it all,"I'm better than you, I played in the NBA, you didn't, I'm right, you're wrong" prick when dealing with a dissenting opinion of anybody he doesn't perceive as on his level (can't wait till the beat reporters start questioning him in LA).

Other's are just too dry, or don't have as great of insight, etc.

Lowe is the perfect combination, of likeable, knowledgeable, reasonable. Won't get in a shouting match with you, won't ignore details that go against his point and will even proactively bring them up, is amicable to being proven wrong, and just super insightful.

ESPN losing Woj and Lowe, they're already poor NBA coverage is going to really suck. Are they expecting to land Shams and Inside the NBA?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Lowe was one of the better talents at ESPN. He has great bball knowledge and actually tries to be objective, but I guess that's bad for the hot take business.

Makes sense.  Lowe doesn't fit in at a workplace where loud > knowledgeable.

They should take the 'S' out of 'ESPN' at this point.
