Tatum's teammate, Jordan Walsh said this about his recovery: "We've seen him so often. I've seen him from when he messed up his Achilles to now, and it's a big difference. He's moving around way better. So, he's progressing well. I'm definitely happy to see him getting back healthy."

"To see him in the gym definitely sets a precedent for everybody else," Walsh added. "If a guy is hurt and trying to get back, then you can do the same thing. Like, you're perfectly healthy, you should be doing the same thing."

Quotes like this make it clear how little we know about Tatum's recovery.  At first I didn't want him to come back at all this year, but what if his surgery went about as well as humanly possible and these medical advancements in achilles repair are true.  Maybe it isn't out of the question that he could return safely late in the year...even if to just give the team a mental boost...and excite the fans.

I was watching a game from Nique in 1993 a few days ago. The season after his achilles injury. His movement defensively was gone. He couldn't move. Lateral quicknes shot. Agility / changing directions shot. A liability. Nothing like he was before the achilles injury.

His offense was still good. He didn't have the explosiveness anymore. Even at a lower athletic level, he was skilled enough to create good offensive opportunities for himself.

I get that JT is a competitor, but even with a best case scenario we're not a contender.  I'd rather maximize our draft pick.

It was announced Thursday morning that former NBA player and league ambassador Jason Collins is undergoing treatment for a brain tumor.

Once a Celtic, always a Celtic.  Best wishes to him and his family.  That's a scary diagnosis.

Charles Bassey and the Atlanta Hawks have signed an Exhibit 10 deal.

Bassey appeared in 36 games last season with the San Antonio Spurs, averaging 4.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 10.4 minutes.

Bassey was on our SL team earlier this summer.

I thought Brad was interested to bring him in earlier. Apparently not.

I mean being an 8 seed can still get you to the Finals or conference finals, especially in the East. Not impossible as we've witnessed in recent history.

But our roster is horrible without Kristaps, Jrue, and Horford so forget about that dream.

At this point, Bassey<<Queta.  There is potential there but for now, I give him a "meh".  I wish him the best, hope it works out for him.  He is a likeable enough player.

Breaking news!

Michael Scotto: The Boston Celtics and Jalen Bridges have agreed to a deal, league sources told @hoopshype . Bridges will compete for a two-way spot in training camp. Bridges was a two-way player with the Phoenix Suns last season, appearing in eight NBA games.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Whoa, still catching my breath from this big news.  I guess he is competing for a 2-way spot.  Right now we have RJ Luis, Max Shulga, and Amari Williams.  Luis and Shugla are both similar players, guards, Jalen Bridges is being reported to be a 6'-8" forward.  Having 1 guard, 1 forward, and 1 center as the 2-way contracts makes some sense, all things otherwise equal.  2-way guys are probably going to see real minutes this season.

I have no idea how good Bridges is.

He plays hard
Has a high motor
Wont take bad shots
Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Pretty good shooter for low volume

Doesn't do anything particually well but also wont be a deer in the headlines.
ok fine

Michael Scotto: The Boston Celtics have agreed to a deal with Kendall Brown, sources told @hoopshype. He?ll compete for a two-way spot in camp. Brown was a two-way player with the Brooklyn Nets last season. He averaged 16.1 points on 57% from the field and 40% from 3-point range in the G League. pic.x.com/CxUB4SNDUi

Another forward, listed at 6'-7".  Here is the blurb I found on him:

Quote
Kendall Thomas Brown is an American professional basketball player for the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Baylor Bears. He was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the best small forwards in the 2021 class

He was drafted in 2022 after his freshman season.  Sounds like he came out way too early.  Anyone know more of the back story?  Going from a "5 star recruit and one of the best SF in the 2021 class" to a journeyman hoping to get a 2-way deal 4 years later?
