After watching the Celtics have their way with the Mavs 4 times this year, I'm ready to state that they are not a great team.

Luka=overrated. Tremendous on offense, poor defender.

Kyrie=overrated. Jrue owns him, both on offense and defense. Kyrie is a great ball handler, and that might be it at this juncture of his career.

PJ Washington=good role player, but not going to win a championship by himself.

That's about it. Everyone else on their team is replaceable.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I don't think overrated.

I think they have really bad matchups with the Celtics.

Plus the national media really wanted to pump them up going into this finals.   Just like they did with the T-Wolves after they beat the Nuggets.

Yep.  I said before the series that only two Mavs would start on the Celtics, and you could even make an argument that, based on fit, even Kyrie would not start.  There is a gulf in talent between their roster and ours after the top 2s.

Avery Johnson still thinks Mavs in 7. These hacks just can't swallow their pride.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

I think Dallas got through an overrated West. OKC was just so young and had no size. LA had no Leonard and the Clippers were easy to guard.  Same with Minnesota.

Denver was the team that would have challenged Boston the most. Them losing to Minnesota was the biggest help to the Celtics.

Dallas is about who I thought they were. They are slow (compared to Indiana). They lack a legit third scorer. We all knew Dallas with Luka and Kyrie would not be able to defend Boston. Luka is a volume shooter that is out of shape and injured. Kyrie still is Kyrie.

And Boston has 8 rotation players that can give you double digit scoring any night. Plus the defense has been very good.

Boston is getting anything they want on offense. Great looks in the first 2 games.

Dallas just seems a bit over their skies. And they do not match up with the Cs. The national media crowning Dallas before this series was always head scratching.

The Mavs are not overrated, the Celtics are UNDERRATED.

The Mavs are a great team, but the Celtics 5-out offense just breaks defenses. They pull rim protection from the paint which there's no way to hide weak perimeter defenders. DJJ and PJ are good perimeter defenders but Brown and Tatum are simply better offensive players.

The Celtics have two awesome offensive players in Brown/Tatum who create matchup problems, 8 above shooters in their rotation, nobody worse than average on defense, two centers who protect the rim and bomb threes, they are well coached and execute a smart modern game plan. Fo r a team with no MVP level guy they are perfectly constructed.

The C's just match up very well to the Mavs.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Why? Despite many believing in ghosts, jinxes, etc., it still doesn't make sense that fans behind a computer can impact the Finals outcome. If fans are allowed to be irrationally negative about the Celtics, I think it's fair to criticize their competition.

The Celtics couldn't hit a shot last night and still covered in their win. They play defense, and Dallas doesn't.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I don?t like these posts. Job isn?t finished

BUT

I think pacers are vastly underrated because they were a small market team. I think they were a tougher team than media/fans are giving credit. They have 5 guys who can score double figures. Dallas has 2 maybe 3 at most

You very well could be right but its never over until it?s over and I?m not going to declare them overrated until the job is done.

I think Dallas got through an overrated West.

This is more what I am seeing.  I see it as DAL's path to the finals as being overrated.  DAL played well against these teams but it was being touted as MIN is way better than IND (for example), when I am not so sure that is the case.

At this point, none of this really matters.  It is down to BOS vs. DAL.  So far, BOS has shown they are the better, deeper team.  And BOS can probably play better yet, shoot better anyway.

The whole narrative will change if DAL wins Game 3 though.

I don't think the Mavs are overrated.  I think people keep underrating the C's.  They lose they get hammered.  They win they find ways to hammer them.  JT's shooting and JT/JB's relationship continues to be a manufactured story line.  The media just loves to hate Boston.  The real story is going to be both games in Dallas.  If the C's win 1 the media will finally jump on board the Celtic bandwagon.  I'm hoping for a sweep so the C's can shut them all up.

I wouldn't call them overrated. They won the West - you're not overrated if you do that. I do think the C's are a bad matchup for them and also think they need more 3 pt shooting.  You're not afraid of anyone else shooting the 3 after Kyrie and Luka.
