They are what we thought they were:  a 5th seed that got extremely hot and played over their head for three rounds.

They're a dangerous team due to Luka, but they're not a team that should beat us 4 of the next 5.

Can we wait until we sweep or win in 5 for threads like this? Thanks

I am so glad to be able to agree with you.  And I agree 100%.

Two home games into the series - with one reasonably close and we?re determining them to be an overrated team?  Wednesday we may very well lose a game and then the series is back to it?s either team?s series to win.  One game.

If the Cs sweep we might  then look back and say they were overrated, but after two games we don?t know that.

Yeah I mean 2-0 leads aren't safe by any means. C's did what they needed to do and defended home-court. Just wait till the dang thing is done. A playoff series does not start until they win on the road anyways.

I think it?s a little of everything said here thus far:

- Dallas is overrated

- Boston is underrated

- Dallas? West run was overrated (injured LAC, young OKC, inexperienced/tired/bad matchup Wolves)

- Boston?s East run was underrated (KP injury, underrated Indy offense, complacency with missing stars)
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Yeah, this thread feels like a jinx. I'll be ready to talk trash if the C's go up 3-0 or win the series. Anything before that feels like asking for trouble.

I agree that this thread looks arrogant if the Celtics lose this series. At the same time, Dallas hasn't looked good and I didn't see a thread addressing their output through 2 games. The Celtics defense has been solid and their offense was suspect in Game 2. They could/should have lost Game 2 to a good team because of their lack of shooting. Fortunately for us, Dallas isn't that team.

I'm not sure where Dallas is going to muster up the defensive chops to play this Celtics team. I'm not too worried about my keystrokes creating a butterfly effect where the Celtics lose 4 out of 5.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

After the first round my dream was that the Mavs would make it to the Finals. Thought their chances were slim.  Of all the remaining contenders in the West, it was pretty obvious that we matched up best vs them, based upon regular season games, size, etc.  Never bought into the Kyrie hype; he seems like the same guy as was here. He is a marvel to watch, but his style obscures his weaknesses.

I think Boston wins by 12 plus in Game 3. One of the J's goes big scoring. You can scheme and make adjustments all day but it eventually comes down to the fact the Dallas roster lacks depth scoring, the Dallas roster does not match up well with the Celtics on either end. Also Luka isn't getting better physically and wained as the game went on in game 2. Started hot and then was pretty average.

I do expect Kyrie to try to be a hero.

Dallas is 5 and 3 at home in the playoffs. I would put their home court advantage right around Miami's. I do think there will a lot of Celtic fans in attendance. Honestly feel Cleveland, Indy were tougher gyms to play in.

Dallas at home vs OKC won 2 games by a total of 5 points.

Boston is undefeated on the road. 6-0. This team plays better on the road.

I?m not sure that a lot of Luka?s so called injuries aren?t hype mostly fake.  Part of his game.
On offense his motions are super smooth and graceful .  On defense he limps around , frails his arm some , has no lift , looks too lazy to chase his player.   I think he is FAT and lazy , he plays like 40 year old LeTurd . Goes hard on offense and watches everyone else play defense.  Slow motion James Harden with no defensive effort.  Only excuses.

It's a bad match up for The Mavs. The Clips didn't have their best player, The Thunder are a very young team and The Wolves were built to beat Denver. Those teams were all excellent match ups for the Mavs. If Kawhi Leonard had been healthy the Mavs would have gone out in the first round. The Mavs may have been the best match up would could've gotten from the West. The Mavs are a good team but not built to play against the Celtics which they probably never thought would happen.

He only looks injured when his team is losing. If his team is winning, he's strutting around the court, chest out, barking at fans (and owners apparently?).

Calling Dallas overrated would just undermine not just them but also the Celtics. Celtics already have their hands full with the "weak east" narrative. You are just adding fuel to the fire if they won against an "overrated" team.

How much does Luka weigh?

During the game Doris said he was 6?7? and 235 lbs. His NBA listing has him at 230. Maybe when he was 19?

Paul Pierce was listed as 6?7? during his playing days and while the Truth was thick, he wasn?t Thicc like Luka. Dončić has to be pushing 260. At least 255.

Good writeup by a Mavs fan about the problems our team presents defensively.

https://www.mavsmoneyball.com/2024/6/10/24175106/the-celtics-have-neutralized-the-mavericks-defenses-biggest-strength-in-the-nba-finals

The C's should win this series.  The biggest issue for Dallas is they cannot consistently limit dribble penetration.  They don't have the personnel to do it.  Luka was exhausted by the end of the 3rd quarter.  Even after some rest he got routinely blown by.

As long the C's attack, play smart, and limit turnovers, they will win in 5.  Maybe 6.

Indiana helped off Al and dared him to shoot and he killed them. I don?t think Dallas can hold up defending Boston. When you have two wasted defenders in Kyrie and Luka then bigs that can?t guard out on the perimeter they are screwed.
