I think Dallas got through an overrated West.

This is more what I am seeing.  I see it as DAL's path to the finals as being overrated.  DAL played well against these teams but it was being touted as MIN is way better than IND (for example), when I am not so sure that is the case.

At this point, none of this really matters.  It is down to BOS vs. DAL.  So far, BOS has shown they are the better, deeper team.  And BOS can probably play better yet, shoot better anyway.

The whole narrative will change if DAL wins Game 3 though.

I'm shocked that Dallas is favored at home. Are they going to start playing D now?

Let's pump the brakes a bit.  We've just held serve so far.

I do love how we're playing though.  Defensive effort and gameplan have been a sight to see.  Seems like the team understands how close they are and is leaving it out there.

You are entitled to your opinion, which makes this a great country.

Last night was the game that Dallas needed to win. No way the Celtics keep missing shots like that against poor defense.

As much as I like C?s to win it all, I don?t agree with this take. Mavs are a good team. And they deservedly made it out of the West. This C?s team (if they win it all), could go down as an all-time great team though. You don?t often see this collection of talent playing on one team.

I think Indy is underrated. They at least played hard.

Indy had a generational offense it just didn?t get attention because they are a small market team.

They play fast and have multiple guys who can score double figures. That?s tough to defend. They may not have a Luka or kyrie but anyone can put up double figures

Dallas plays a half court offense and has basically 2 at most 3 guys who will score double figures. That?s a much better matchup for the Boston defense. They can set their defense

I actually think Indiana could beat Dallas too. I think people forget Indiana had the best offense in the league and it was historically good too. Not a small thing. Dallas feels easier to guard even with Luka + Kyrie because they are slower paced and not as quick and skilled in drives with the exception of Kyrie but the C's have done a good job on him too. Indiana was lightning speed compared to Dallas. They would have run laps around Luka and the Mavs too.

Dallas plays a heavy PnR game trying to get a mismatch for Luka.  Problem is, C's can roll a really good defender and thus it backfires.  Last night, many times they ran this, Luka wound up with JB or JT guarding him after the swap.  The problem for the C's was, sometimes they didn't swap fast enough and left the other guy wide open.

The Mavs are not overrated, the Celtics are UNDERRATED.

Agreed

This isn't as much about the Mavs as it is about the Celtics. This Celtics team looks like one of the best teams of the last ~20 years. Very few teams can match up with our top 6. It's absurd how deep with top end talent this team is. They would have given those peak Warriors teams or Heat teams a run for their money. There's a reason why we stomp teams so often.

Dallas would have beaten any other team from the East this season except for maybe a healthy Milwaukee.

This was all in our heads coming into the series, which is why we all wanted DAL to make the Finals - as inconceivable as that seemed back in the 1st round.

We still have 2 more to win, so we can't assume anything yet. Luka is obviously a tremendous player, but I've always thought Kyrie was all flash. Their 3rd best player was Charlotte's like 3rd best player coming into the season. And Lively is a rookie still finding his way. It doesn't help that Kidd called him out 3-4 times in his game 1 postgame press conference for traveling when they chipped the lead down to 8. He was a different player last game.

I thought it was funny that Derrick White was talking about how tough it was to guard IND when he was being interviewed by the ESPN crew after the game. He even pointed to Josh Hart and said that he knew.

It's not that by praising IND, he was downplaying DAL, but I think it accidentally came off that way. Like, IND was so difficult to guard and now we can finally slow it down and take a breather.

Mav s are mostly ignored team ,  until they play the Celtics .  It?s the anybody but Celtics crowd of Skip  Bayless type morons that all run to Rotten creepy Kidd to save them from a Celtics Championship.

Can we wait until we sweep or win in 5 for threads like this? Thanks

I am so glad to be able to agree with you.  And I agree 100%.

Two home games into the series - with one reasonably close and we?re determining them to be an overrated team?  Wednesday we may very well lose a game and then the series is back to it?s either team?s series to win.  One game.

If the Cs sweep we might  then look back and say they were overrated, but after two games we don?t know that.
