He does remind me of Bill Walton somewhat . Tons of skill and heart . The next injury seems but minutes away every time he takes the court.

Play him off the bench with limited minutes next season.

Brad basically admitted today on a podcast KP will miss the very start of next season.

That?s fine with me.

They absolutely do need to find another depth big though or already start the process of increasing Tillman?s or Queta?s role for next season off the bench

Safer to have Porzingis back by end of January

Celtics seemingly did everything right with him throughout the season. Cautious whenever he got banged up. No back-to-backs.

I feel as if he entered the playoffs about as close to 100% as you can be after a long season. And just like that, an injury 3 games in. And after 38 days, another injury his second game back.

I know it went unnoticed because everyone focused on the other players that didn?t play these playoffs, but the Celtics cruising without KP was very impressive. He?s arguably the hardest to replace and they still found a way to keep winning.

I think that's the best case scenario. I hope they have a backup plan for getting through a good chunk of the season without him. It has to be more than Queta - and as of now, he's the backup option.

I hope they draft a developmental big at 30 (or trade up some to get the guy they like) and then resign one of tillman or kornet(tough call.  They do similar jobs in very different manners).  Tillman is better defender in space, Kornet is better around the basket defensively and better rebounder.  At 54 I'd just do a draft and stash of best SG or SF available who has the most potential, if raw.

This is why you need another big off the bench that can be a rotation player. Someone that can shoot from 3 and space the floor.

If we are counting on Queta to be that guy that?s a disaster.

What did he say? I thought it was an 8 week recovery period and everything I heard him say is they?d wait until the surgery was done to understand the timeline.

If you look back at the C's past drafts, how many of those draft and stash guys eventually make it here? First they have to be good enough, then you have to deal with their club which is looking to sell them and make a profit.  I'd rather draft a guy you can get into the program, work with and hopefully develop.  Better odds for success.

I assume stashing also means a 2-way player at this point.  Really we just do not have room for whomever we pick at 54 to be on the 15-man roster this year (especially as we?ll break training camp with 14).

We?re going to be different right out of the gate simply because we have guys like Kristaps after his surgery ? we don?t know exactly when he?ll be back. But he?ll probably miss at least the very start of the season,? Stevens said. ?That?ll be a great opportunity for us to do things [differently] and have to find different solutions and those types of things that come with it. And then we?ll just evaluate our team like we always do.?

KP out 5-6 months after surgery.

That's kind of what I was expecting, though it also wouldn't surprise me if it takes longer than that. Hopefully he's the same player once he gets back. I'd say there are no guarantees despite what the team says moving forward.
