Trading the Chicago 2nd for Springer is very interesting. That's probably like the 40th pick in the draft? I'd think that has more value than Springer. But maybe they actually like him in case they need to move on from Pritchard and his 6.7 million this off season. He makes 4 million next year, so Pritchard to Springer saves 2.7 million. Or maybe his contract is for salary matching next off season. 4 million gives more options than a minimum guy.
Might depend on how much Jrue holiday signs re-signs for this off season, assuming he does.
Tillman could also serve a similar purpose. FA they will have bird rights on, could sign him to a contract for future trade use. Or maybe he replaces Horford long term at a lower price.
For second apron teams even shaving a few million off a position could be critical moving forward.
