Why would you trade a reliable rotation guy for an unknown? Take away PP you weaken the team for next season.

while i agree, we can't overlook the other weakness on this team. if kp is injured (he already is), we can't just assume horford will handle the load for yet another year. anything beyond them is really an unknown. so we have an unknown either way. the question is whether it is more difficult to replace pritchard or to replace the kp/horford minutes if one of them is down. i think the opportunity to find a big is more rare. i'm not sold that edey is more of a liability than other bigs like kornet/queta (celtics alternatives) or some other centers in the league that find meaningful minutes like brook lopez, valanciunas etc. even gobert has always struggled on the perimeter but has been a net positive as a defense-first guy. tillman is a better defensive option, but edey has more offensive upside. idk. i don't think it's clear that pritchard and #30 is better than edey as a backup when kp is down and as a third big when both kp and horford are healthy. especially when you consider the cost of whoever is at #30 vs the cost of a better producer at #18.

basically i'm searching for that third big and i don't see him. edey would at least be a chance at that.
i agree with your logic on needed another big man for the next season. but i dont think this draft is going to produce one that can contribute meaningfully next season.

maybe a vet. maybe tillman.

Did anyone guess the pick?

After doing this I'm sure Brad will buck the trend and draft some 23 year old non-athlete with an NBA ready jump shot.
If you ignore the entire rest of this post I made I kinda nailed this.

This analysis cracks me up:  https://www.yahoo.com/sports/2024-nba-draft-grades-first-round-pick-by-pick-analysis-032050481.html

Pretty much "everybody gets an A".  Except Memphis.  Ouch.

Biggest question from the draft (coverage):  How is "Ja'Kobe Walter" a mashup of Jordan and Kobe?  Shouldn't it be Jo'Kobe?  My daughter asked that, and I think that NBA reporters need to do a deep dive.

One of Utah?s picks was a highly touted guard coming out of high school whose stock has plummeted. Certainly sounds like Danny hasn?t changed his draft philosophy.

Maybe his dad was Rastafarian? Jah, Kobe can score that ball.

At 54 it will be interesting. Most likely a young player that can go to Maine. Still would love to screw over the Lakers and take Bronny out of spite.

Maybe it was the J in MJ. Perhaps the name was to be pronounced JayKobe?, but they dropped the y in the spelling, and then the pronunciation changed to more of a schwa.

More likely, however, there was a mistake at the hospital on the birth certificate and they never changed it (either someone had bad handwriting so an o looked like an a, or the transcriber misheard, or the exhausted new parents misspoke, etc).  My sister had a spelling error on her birth certificate and it took my parents months to fix it when she was an infant.

I did too. I guess there are major concerns about Filipowski's size and role at the next level. He has the size of like an average PF (he may be 6'11 but he has t rex arms) but doesn't really have the lateral quickness to even try and be a PF.

doing things such as this to the lakers is NEVER a bad idea.

Really curious to know how Filipowski wasn't selected in the first round. I felt it was an obvious choice for Boston when he popped up at 30.

Even more curious is why didn't anyone that might have wanted him move up to get him? Boston made it well known they had the 30th pick on the block.

Seems like there is something more seeing everyone passed on him and some teams passed on him twice.
